One of the perks of being a published author in the Penguin Random House empire is authors get a 50% discount to buy *any* book by any author also published within the empire. Why it took me 9 yrs to take advantage of this, no idea.

But it's nice and now I am hauling in new books, Amazon-free!

Yo @support.bsky.team — what good is the Discover tab if the posts there are nearly all ones I’ve already seen in my own feed?

Shouldn’t Discover be 100% posts I have never seen? I bet users would find that far more useful. I sure would.

No way is the penny gone. Scam.

1. People demand the return of the penny.

2. Trump sez, sure, no prob.

3. Phila. mint starts minting pennies again.

4. Instead of Lincoln and Lincoln Memorial the pennies show Trump on one side and Mar-a-lago on the other.

Mission accomplished.

Heh. People complained about screens in classrooms even in the 60s and 70s. Back then, researchers were experimenting to see if kids could learn via computer.

In the 2000s the computers are there because vendors like Google want cradle-to-grave Google hardware/software/cloud customers.

Well, not only is it taken, but it was registered in . . . 2019 🤷‍♂️

Hmm, I step away from doomscrolling for a couple hours and suddenly the White House is at DUHCON 1?

Psst: Hey Gullible, I mean, Mashable, they (and drivers of every make and model of vehicle) have been doing it for years

Can you imagine if Silicon Valley were even 1% as motivated and fired up and excited with an aggressive, thorough, measurable, impactful global climate crisis mitigation solution, as they are with . . AI?

Yeah I can’t either. Raw greed doesn’t care about a hot planet. 🤷‍♂️

WTF is this crap doing on Bluesky.

I suppose it had to happen when Bluesky got big enough: the bots have arrived.

Another gorgeous perfect blue-sky springlike 64°F day for the start of the second week of November in 7200ft altitude Santa Fe, New Mexico. All of November has been like this so far.

It should be gloomy, cloudy, gray, cold, windy, and snowy/icy already. This is not normal.

Two, okay, three things of note:

1. Jeepers, gold is expensive
2. “Storage only” lol … yeah right
3. “Out of stock”… naturally

Pretty astoundingly bad box office performance for a film so urgently relevant in these dire times.

Roughly 0.000102941 of the American population have seen the film. More spiders have seen it than people.

It’s okay to be blunt: DIE MY LOVE is horrible. It should not have been made.

I guess it works maybe as a scifi movie depicting life after the robots take all the jobs, and people flee the cities, but then they‘re bored out of their skulls.

Nah.

It doesn’t work.

I walked out at the 1-hr point.

Amazing, the reaction I got to posting 4 pages of my 2017 book last night on Bluesky. It's like there's a vast audience out there excited to discover a book that was published in 2017.

NYT/WPost couldn't be bothered to write reviews then. Tree falling in an empty forest, etc.

Want a copy?

I love nerdy scientists on Bluesky. Their enthusiasm for all things SCIENCE is awe-inspiring.
‼️ Excited to share our new paper out now in @science.org ‼️

We describe a new tetrameric RAD51 paralog complex – XRCC3-RAD51C-RAD51D-XRCC2 – which caps the end of RAD51 filaments.

Walked by a Lenscrafters in the mall earlier and noticed this Meta thing being promoted. You too can be a glasshole!

Going to state this before Tesla's shareholder meeting gets underway:

The main driver for these robots, imho, is . . . slavery.

Oh, you stupid, ignorant New York Times. You just do not get it. Most likely you refuse to get it.

It's not about Musk working at all. It's the control he wants to buy. Unprecedented, global-scale control. Musk may become a threat as big as any superpower nation.

We will regret granting him power.

Saw the latest Yorgos Lanthimos film BUGONIA yesterday and, well, Lanthimos has never quite been my cuppa tea though I wind up seeing everything he makes. Let’s just say BUGONIA was the first Lanthimos picture I didn’t feel the urge to get up and walk out of. Which, coming from me, is high praise.

To all news websites and search websites and everybody with a phone app you want me to use: ain’t happenin’. Not today, not tomorrow, nopt ever.

I don’t want your app. Especially if you hijack and force-send me to the app store while I was on your website. Evil, man.

Hear me, NY Times? Google?

One of the great wonders of the world: the shift from brilliant, original melodicism in Broadway music, at its peak in the 50s and 60s, to its gradual but nonstop decline from the 70s to present: songs became bland, generic, empty.

Same with pop music, really. Pop (e.g. T Swift) as generic slop. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, Hyundai, the place any reasonable person would first look for flat tire information in the index of the car Owner’s Manual would be under the entries that begin with the letter ”I”

Scrolling down thru bsky just now all the posts are 9hrs old, 100s of ‘em, like I struck a rich vein in the strata, and in the posts they’re all talking about some entity called “Dodgers” and people in the streets and noise and whatever.

I take it not everyone went to THE MASTERMIND last night? 🤷‍♂️
