So. I paused a moment, based on a comment I received that caused me to reconsider the direction I was going to go in originally. Decided to move forward with a combination, hopefully giving the impression that she is sort of phasing in, and the "armor" hasn't completely stabilized yet.

I've gotta go to Florida this weekend for work. I've only been to a couple countries outside the US; what currency to I need to exchange my few dollars into? Reichmarks? Kruger Rand? What does DeathSantis have them using these days?

Every time I remind myself that I need to try to be consistent, in the back of my mind I hear "foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds". Can't even remember where I heard that originally.

Some very minor futzes, as I haven't been feeling well the past two days. I've removed the temporary white background briefly (it helps with the initial painting) to better illustrate the direction in which I am going.

I'm concerned that once you get past the bullshit "national security" arguments, the two main justifications are:
This is how we *used* to do it (before two world wars and thousands of international treaties)
And
Greenland's too small to stop us.

In the end, I decided to remove the staff entirely. It just wasn't working the way I wanted in the color version. Black and white version included for comparison.

I think I agree with the people that hated Starfleet Academy a year ago, before it even came out:
They're right, they shouldn't watch this. It's too good for them. Leave it for those of us who appreciate it.

Wanted to paint something else...just wasn't feeling it. Put it aside. Then I came across this one that I had abandoned. Added some more layers and started both painting new layers and reworking old bits. It's starting to sing to me now. Old, frowsy version left, newly updated version right.
