Congress should be serving as a check on abuse of executive power. Right now it is ineffectual and weak, only emboldening Trump.

If FIFA doesn't have the moral clarity to pull the World Cup out of the United States after what has happened in Venezuela, then it is up to the nations who have qualified to announce that they are pulling out.

...are primarily about serving their own self-interest. It's just that "fighting for democracy" and "doing it for the safety of our children" do a wonderful job in placating the masses.
At what point do we say, "Enough is enough. This is unacceptable?" Not soon enough, I fear.

Perhaps if America had such a similar experience, perhaps we wouldn't be so thirsty when it comes to engaging in conflicts overseas or elsewhere in the Western Hemisphere. Perhaps if we saw the horrors firsthand, our eyes would open...
