It's a symptom of how far the Overton Window has moved that I now feel much more affinity with old Tories like Heseltine, Major and Patten than with Labourites like Starmer and Street IMG.

One thing I find quite funny about this idea of vote Labour or get Reform, is that it ignores that a Lib Dem/Green coalition is becoming a genuinely viable alternative, and one which is pretty attractive to voters who want a positive plan for the future which doesn't involve demonising others. 6/

Another take from the Caerphilly by-election is that even the combined Reform +Tory+Labour vote was less than 50%. The combined Plaid, Green and Lib Dem vote was more than 50%.

Shadow justice secretary criticised for suggesting he could tell how integrated Handsworth was based on 90-minute visit
Robert Jenrick complained about visiting an area of Birmingham where he “didn’t see another white face” and said it was not the kind of country he wanted to live in.
After highlighting the lack of white people, the shadow justice secretary said it was not about “the colour of your skin or your faith” and he wanted people to live alongside each other. Continue reading...

Why are the American president's claims about autism the first item on British news bulletins?
He's not our president, the advice doesn't apply here and he's not presented any evidence to support his assertions.
So why spread these claims? What make this the biggest story in the UK?

Voters' concern about immigration tracks the number of immigration stories in the tabloids, not the number of immigrants.
Farage is a one-trick pony: without immigration he's got nothing.
To beat Reform, take the national conversation away from immigration.
Labour is doing the opposite.
