After rewatching Peter Jackson’s self-indulgent Hobbit trilogy, I read the book for the first time in decades. J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel remains entertaining. There’s no reason for Jackson to stretch the story to 3 movies no matter how much material is imported from other writings.

Ten years ago today, I made the decision to watch/rewatch every movie in the book "1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die." My enthusiasm for this project has ebbed and flowed over the years. After a decade, I'm at 60% watched, 754 out of 1,245 movies. The count includes every edition of the book
