GLASHEEN: Antifa is our primary concern right now. That's the most immediate violent threat we're facing

BENNIE THOMPSON: Where is antifa headquartered?

GLASHEEN: ... ... ... we are building out the infrastructure right now

THOMPSON: What does that mean?

This makes me think of Douglas McCarthy.

Those kids look so confused.

The CR to open the government included no guarantees around extending ACA subsidies.

Will a vote on extending them actually happen? Who knows!

In any case, Trump and his lapdogs continue to assert that they have the power to slash whatever programs they don’t like.

Capitulation is not a strategy.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

Kristi Noem: "No American citizens have been arrested or detained. We focus on those who are here illegally. And anything you would hear or report that would be different than that is simply not true and false reporting."

Jennifer gave me a signed copy of My Heart is a Chainsaw for my birthday!

I read Mongrels first and thought, “This is fun—especially the ending.” Then I read My Heart is a Chainsaw and realized, “This guy (SGJ) is something special. I must read more.” I’ve read everything since. I love this book!

He scoured medieval paintings and tapestries and studied museum pieces to make our pattern. Then we carved the poplar, cut, stained, and sewed the leather, and even found medieval-style cut nails so that my son could have his very own pair of pattens. We still need to add a loop for the strap.

Finally watched THE LIFE OF CHUCK, and it’s by far one of my favorite films of the year. Brimming with ideas & genuine emotions. Unlike any movie I’ve seen, but absolutely relatable to anyone. @mikeflanaganfilm.com has crafted the most human movie in years. Go in knowing as little as possible.

Ken Parker died today. Among many other things, he helped to design the Parker Fly and Parker Nitefly guitars. Weird and wonderful works of art and engineering.

In the 90s, I saw Reeves Gabriels playing a Fly with David Bowie. That day, I found a new favorite guitarist and a new gear obsession.

The last 8 months precedent means we now have a system where the POTUS can demand any business practice as he wishes, or he will impose “emergency” Executive Orders to tariff their sales & destroy them…

A free market is not possible in such conditions. It is servile.
Literally last week every MAGA idiot around was insisting, loudly, how terrible it was that the Biden admin pressured YouTube to remove COVID misinfo, even as YouTube said it ignored the pressure. Those same folks will either be silent or cheer this on:
This was done at the direction of Pam Bondi. The US government is now dictating what apps you can have on your phone.

The underlying threat here is if Apple didn't comply, they'd slap billions in tariffs on Apple products.

I appreciate my son's belief in my ability to make things, but his optimism often overleaps my capabilities.

He's very interested in medieval history & fashion, so this Summer I’ve been recruited to help make pattens.

I'm pretty happy with the results considering I've never carved wood before!

I’m so late to this! The Reformatory by Tananarive Due is both beautiful and heartbreaking. It’s terrifying and horrifying. Set in Jim Crow-era Florida, it tells the story of Robbie Stephens, a 12-year-old sentenced to six months in a boys’ reformatory that’s rumored to be haunted.
