It’ll be interesting to see the dynamics of tackling this in the regular session.
Some good redistricting news: Kansas Republicans have abandoned trying to hold a special session to re-gerrymander their congressional map & eliminate Dem Rep. Sharice Davids.
They could try again in January's regular session, but they apparently lack the votes in the state House, at least for now

A niche daylight saving problem: our four-week-old needs to eat every three hours, but we couldn’t set an alarm for ourselves for the second 1:30am.

Do you ever think about how lucky we were that Wild Wild West wasn’t a better movie, because steampunk could have gone a lot more mainstream than it did. We all dodged a bullet there

When the KS leg passed this amendment, they said the next section of Article 15 should be 26, but Article 15 only had 13 sections, it was the following one that had 25. It passed the popular vote, and the SOS version of the constitution now lists it as section 14.

For some reason the SOS report from 1864 doesn't have statewide results for the constitutional amendment guaranteeing soldiers the right to vote, but every county return I can find was dictator-sham-election in favor of it.

Looks like one chamber in Kansas is ready to call a special session for redistricting. According to the article, though, the House is still around eight signatures short. #ksleg

I lived a few blocks from downtown Ithaca my junior year. The neighborhood was teeming with monks from the nearby Buddhist monastery out for walks, it was rough
Will never stop telling the story of my coworker who was afraid of downtown Ithaca, NY. Trying to protect people from fake fears just makes them more scared!
I posted it in Faine's replies a few days ago, but... yeah.
I know people who are deathly terrified of going to parts of Providence (a city of 190K) because "you could get mugged." (Note: RI has ~1 crime per 1K people statewide).
They thought I lost my marbles when I moved to "the city."

Bourbon County, KS voted last year to expand their commission from 3 to 5 seats, and they're doing special elections for D4 and D5 this year. Always seems weird when states allow for half the reps to serve under the old map and half under the new with redistricting.

Isn't telling it what groceries to order the same as ordering the groceries yourself? Or is the idea that it would make the decisions for you? What a joyless existence
wow, fucking amazing, middle management ass slavery fetish bullshit. it's so hard to book yourself a haircut or order some groceries. they built a half baked program to let you microdose the fantasy of being a billionaire who has people doing all of these things for them. i'm so full of hate rn

I think this chart would be more informative as percent of each group who was long-term unemployed, unless the lesson is that the job prospects for high school dropouts continue to improve as time goes on
The trend has alarmed job-market watchers. “Such an increase is unprecedented outside of recessions,” said an economist of the steady worsening of the long-term unemployment rate.

I got one and most of the US games off eBay in college when they were dirt cheap. My approach was to lay on the couch and have foam tape on contact points where it'd rest directly on my face.
I've still got it in my basement, but I hold no nostalgia for it

i remember lying on a carpeted floor trying to play wario VB on this thing. it's basically a pair of goggles on legs. thankfully the old mods should still work for the new one

Last October, Kansas ticked over 2 million registered voters for the first time in state history. Last month, we did it again!
(List cleaning in the spring brought us below 2 million, but we're now back above 2 million!)
