“Trump floated the idea of a 50-year mortgage. The idea came after Democrats swept last week’s elections, in part on messaging around affordability.”

This Trump “plan” is in the same category of his 2017 pronouncements of introducing a “health plan” in 2 weeks.

Still waiting on that.

Republican congresswoman MTG accused Trump of focusing too much on foreign affairs instead of domestic issues. The president said Greene is “now catering to the other side.”

He doesn’t respond with a policy rationale but with an accusation of siding with the opposition.
It’s his style.

Trump proposed direct tariff payments to Americans. “everyone but “high income people” would get a $2,000 dividend as a result of his (tariff) policy.

The U.S. has collected $174 billion in tariff revenue, but Trump’s rebate plan could cost nearly $300 billion.

Oh, that.

In the Trump controlled Congress there is no red line that Trump can cross. This latest revelation is going nowhere.

“The messages are certain to inflame the debate on Capitol Hill over the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files, and top officials’ decision to backtrack on a promise to fully release them.”

The smart money is on the Trump GOP to stonewall release.

President Trump pardoned the husband of Representative Diana Harshbarger (R)Tennessee.
In 2013, Robert Harshbarger had pleaded guilty to health care fraud.

A curious approach to healthcare. Pardon felons who have defrauded the system.
His answer to Obamacare??

I have true compassion for Federal workers suffering under the government shit down. But last nights Senate vote was a total betrayal to the tens of millions whose healthcare will take a huge hit.
And you can kiss any reasonable opposition to the Trump regime goodbye.
Disheartening.

Tonight’s Senate vote on the federal government shutdown should have been a time for strength.

Instead we saw capitulation and a betrayal of working Americans.

The American people need more from their leaders.

This may hurt his chances to:

2)Any effort to rename the Lombardi Trophy to the Trump Trophy

Trump has mentioned the word affordability as much in the last week as he has in the past nine months. His renewed attention to the issue comes after weeks in which he faced mounting criticism for appearing out of touch with everyday Americans.

Not to mention that Memdani won in NYC that message.

Pres. Trump has granted pre-emptive pardons to Rudolph W. Giuliani, John Eastman, an adviser to Trump’s 2020 campaign, and Sidney Powell, who was briefly a public face of his campaign, all accused of election interference crimes.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

It just seems that the GOP and Trump would be hard pressed in 2026 to defend their aggressive stance withholding food assistance to 40+million Americans.
They’re not even making believe that they give a shit about people suffering.

Competence wasn’t on the ballot. He ran on keeping the country white by shipping out immigrants already here and barring people of color from entering. And he told everyone he would tear the government apart (which he is doing) and lower grocery prices (which he’s not doing).
Seriously? He has no idea how insurance works or how to govern. I’ll never get over 77 million people thinking a man this incompetent belongs anywhere near the Oval Office.

The Epstein files faces a much more difficult path in the Senate, where GOP leaders loyal to Trump have more levers at their disposal to bury it in a procedural morass. If the Senate did pass the petition Trump could veto and enough Republicans would not vote to override his veto.
