If we let the Trump Administration get away with erasing history, we are doomed to repeat it.

Removing exhibits about slavery from our National Parks is shameful. As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday we must remember that Black history IS American history—dark parts and all.

I was gonna stop at one black history post today, but then I saw this!!!!!!!! Not during black history month. How dare they try to erase Surya Bonaly? Let’s talk about her and how she made history in the face of discrimination.

Not only is it Black History Month. It’s also its 100th anniversary!!

To commemorate its centennial, I wrote a list of 10 Black films, one from each of the last 10 decades, to stream.

Now more than ever, it is critical that we teach our history, preserve our history, and continue to make history.

More attention here, please.
Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

The arrests of Don Lemon, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lundy are unacceptable and a clear violation of the Constitution.

This is a dangerous abuse of power that threatens the rights of every single American.

They must be released immediately.

Abolish ICE is not enough.

Stern words for Greg Bovino or Kristi Noem is not enough.

We need prosecutions and trials.

Anything short of this position fails to address the gravity of this moment.

The party that has spent unlimited resources and energy getting states to pass laws to allow citizens to openly carry loaded weapons anywhere - now believes that exercising this right is permission for law enforcement to murder you.

Honestly, how dumb do they think we are?

A reminder from Huffington Post that DHS and ICE have opened fire on unarmed civilians 16 times since Trump took office, killing 4 people. In every case, DHS claims that the victims "assaulted officers" and/or tried to ram them with cars. In every case, evidence proves they are lying. Every time.

I need y’all to realize this. Black people experience this lack of visibility all the time when it comes to being victims.

After the shooting, locals set up a makeshift memorial — some candles in solemn remembrance. In the above video, an ICE officer kicks over one of the candles. He then *taunts* an onlooker visibly enraged by his disrespect.

Murdering her wasn’t enough. They had to desecrate her memory, too.
Renee Nicole Good's humanity needs to be the first thing that’s said, because the regime started erasing it from virtually the moment it murdered her.
