I will finish the second draft of this novel if it kills me. I will NOT get distracted by the short horror story idea that popped into my head. I’ve written it down and it can wait!

Of course you're not selfish or conceited for seeking validation on your creations. You can write, draw, or whatever, for yourself, have a blast, and still want someone to go "hell yeah, bro." But it's also not any less worthy without a showering of praises. Expressing yourself is always worthwhile.
