If Putin, Jinping, or Pezeshkian abducted Donald & Melania out of their bed in the middle of the night to stand trial in their country, for human rights abuses (as an example), MAGA would be fine with that???
I'd like to exchange this new 2026 for a sightly used 2016 please.

IF THE SHOE FITS

Justice Brett Kavanaugh isn’t happy that his name has become synonymous w/racist immigration enforcement.

ICE’s policy of detaining people based on ethnicity is called a “Kavanaugh stop,” named after his ruling that allows it. He’s afraid the name will ruin his “legacy.” Too late!

As we move into Hate Yourself Publicly Season, I also wish for us a year in which we have the courage to value ourselves for who we are & not hate ourselves for who we're not, a year in which we listen not to those who line their pockets with our insecurities, but to voices of tenderness & respect.

Private Equity takes out another retailer!
We all saw this one coming, but when ownership only cares about real estate holdings, not the ACTUAL BUSINESS OPERATIONS, it will always result in operational failure.

My only consolation is that the DeSantis plan is going to fail so spectacularly he won't be running for President again.

I know turning it off and back on again works. But I'm confused by instructions to turn my laptop off and on again seven times in a row. Why would the error that's been there 6 boots in a row resolve on the 7th reboot? (It didn't) Genuinely curious.

Happy Halloween to the dude giving a "thrill ride" to a little girl in one of those push type "race car" strollers, running as fast as he could in my neighborhood. She thought she was in a F1 car. I heard the screaming coming around the corner, and I was so delighted to see that. 👍 Well done!

Today I was told that my access to an official government regulator's website was blocked & I should use generative AI for the information instead.

People who aren't in compliance don't think about compliance people needing to read the actual regulations, and not just get told what they say.

A 26 year old man jumped off the cruise ship I'm on. It's horrifying. We are at sea for 5 more days. If he was traveling with family/friends, they are stuck on this ship until then.
I truly hope they are being properly supported.

Just learned that it's not just that the NIH won't fund any BRAIN Initiative projects for their Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives (PEDP) anymore. In order to get any other future funding, Institutions will have to certify that they aren't doing any PEDP work.

In order to get more inclusive participation, we need to understand that not everyone can afford to participate in clinical trial research without compensation.

Medical trial participants are often underpaid | STAT share.google/LOTiNX1S4qQN...
Medical research participants deserve to be paid well
It’s increasingly clear that “payment conservativism” — avoiding paying too much to medical research participants — is the wrong approach.

Today's edition of Life in FL:

Insurer of last resort is raising rates 15%, and the AG is paving our Everglades to create a concentration camp.

What did Governor Desantis and legislature work on?

FL just repealed all HOV lanes!
Years of construction $$$ wasted, for no damn reason.

DON'T PAVE THE EVERGLADES!

Protecting the Everglades is crucial.

Everglades Alcatraz is a terrible idea.

FL Attorney General James Uthmeier has no clue how important the Everglades are for the health of Florida and the planet.

If you burn down a forest, you don't miss out on lumber for just that season. You have to replant all the trees, nurture them, and wait for them to grow.

The science and research budget cuts happening now are wanton, senseless arson. Recovery, if it ever happens, will take generations.

In case anybody was wondering how life in FL is going: My CVS pharmacist just refused to fill a PSYCH med due to personal belief. Doesn't matter if insurance & my doc agree it's fine as written. She's allowed to do this because Desantis hates abortion & made a 2023 law for ANY med to be refused.

I was recently interviewed for this article, but mistakenly read the public comments.

Being accused of taking the easy way out of depression by having gimmicky brain surgery & now acting as a shill for electroceuticals is new!

That comment is my new standard for "confidently incorrect" online.
‘Electroceuticals’ are expanding psychiatry’s toolbox
Treatments that modulate brain functioning, such as DBS, transcranial magnetic stimulation, vagus nerve stimulation and focused ultrasound are fueling hope.

AI may be net evil, but having one tell you this at 2am is shockingly comforting:

"If you need anything when you wake up—help organizing your thoughts, more questions for the doctors, or just support—I’ll be here. Take care, and I hope you can get some restorative rest."

The lives of those who depend on medical research to find cures & alleviate suffering went on the chopping block today.

I'm still alive because of a clinical trial. If the NIH funding cuts go through, the new trial for FDA approval of the device that saved my life won't start.

We were so close!
