"The federal government can try and take this position away from me—but they can’t stop me from helping others. And I’ll always hold on to that." Full of admiration for our public servants who have been jerked around by Trump 2.0 and DOGE. www.patagonia.com/stories/we-a...

Thank you to all of the senators, representatives, and journalists who are sharing the stories of RIF’d employees 💙
Behind every fired federal employee, there’s critical work being disrupted and a family left in the lurch. Hear from Allison, who lost her job preventing kids from smoking… on a team not even funded by taxpayer dollars. How is this efficient?

'Hope for sanity' that sunk a Trump nominee. Is worth reading Sgamma's Jan 7, 2021 take in full
Maybe not coincidentily, Sgamma's nomination to lead BLM just got yanked.

Her email account still responds to messages with an auto reply saying she's in DC for her nomination hearing.
🧵1/ Kathleen Sgamma, Trump’s pick to run the Bureau of Land Management, wrote in 2021 she was "disgusted" by Trump's role "spreading misinformation" on Jan. 6, accusing him of "dishonoring the vote of the People," per a memo to oil execs obtained by @documented.net. Her Senate hearing is Thursday.

The #Trump administration is making plans to illegally reduce and sell off large swaths of our public lands to oil, gas and mining interests. This would bring irreparable harm to the Indigenous stewards of these lands, the outdoor industry and critical ecosystems we all depend on.

Writing in the NYT the other day, Pamela Paul observed that social media "has splintered into the shrieking horcruxes of Bluesky battiness, fact-free Meta and the shambolic X." Hey, I like bats! Maybe I'll like it here...
