Solar panels last a long time, 40 years ago I learned that solar panels keep producing electricity with little loss of efficiencies over 50 years then and those same panels are still producing now.

By day, panels shade the ground cooling soils and near‑surface air a bit. But at night, stored heat in panels and altered surfaces can make warmer than in untouched land. Overall, measurements show cooling in the shade by day and warming at night, depending on layout, vegetation, and climate.

Renewable energy must be built thoughtfully, prioritizing built environments first to preserve the intrinsic value of natural desert landscapes. We should be doing the easy things first, requiring solar on new homes and parking lots, etc.
