The NHS estimates this change to the home-testing FIT test could help detect around 600 more bowel cancers early each year and find 2,000 more people with high-risk polyps in their bowel, allowing patients to have preventative surgery.

📣 In case you missed it: In a study published late last year, researchers discovered that UK inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients of White and South Asian ethnicity respond the same to commonly used treatments, despite the disease itself being different in each group. https://ow.ly/38R750Xts5q

"The moment I was told I’d need a permanent colostomy I was in shock. I was truly traumatised by the thought of it. If I had been better informed, would I have been so horrified? I feel grateful to still be alive. I feel elated by it to be honest."

Myth or fact? Bowel cancer only affects older adults. 👇
.
.
.
In the UK, there has been a small increase in the number of people aged 25-49 who've been diagnosed with bowel cancer; we don't yet know why.

But 9/10 people survive for 5+ years when bowel cancer is caught at the earliest stage.
