When is someone with an influential voice going to stand up and say loudly and clearly that under international law it is legal to cross the Channel to claim asylum, and once someone does, they have to be processed, fed and housed under the law. There is no such thing as an ‘illegal’ asylum seeker

Wow. Excellent responses by @heidialexander.bsky.social to what I thought was an unnecessarily shouty and over-assertive interrogation by @jeremyvine.bsky.social . Asking her to apologise for not ‘smashing the gangs’ in 14 months was absurd.

Ooh look, a completely sane, reasonable, erudite person at the heart of the US Government. I don’t think I have seen or heard anything as scary apart from footage from, let’s think…about 1935.
If you were writing a political drama and wrote Stephen Miller as a character everyone would think you were being absurdly OTT.
