Assistant principal at an elementary school, and I'm making graphs prepare to be on Jeopardy! I love bike rides with my 4 kids, and I like learning about everything.
I'm trying to make graphs of every topic on Jeopardy, and this time I did a couple for golf. This is the list of golfers who were mentioned more than once and one a Major. Data is from PGA and J-Archive and I made the graphics in Affinity. #golf #dataviz #jeopardy

As proud as I was to add my name to the list of Utah PAEMST winners, I was disappointed to realize I will be the last. Thanks to Talia Milgrom-Elcott for including my thoughts here. And thanks to my wife for reminding me I'm too old to say I made Forbes "under 30."

Science Teachers Rare As “Unicorns”—So Why Cut Their Premier Award?
40-year program honoring America's best STEM teachers paused. 4,000+ past winners wonder: Why eliminate $10K award that costs 1¢ per citizen & addresses teacher shortage?

I’ve been trying to study every Boxing clue that has shown up on Jeopardy! Based on my research, I decided to make three charts of what I found interesting. The data is from J-Archive, BoxRec, and IMDb. I used DataWrapper and Affinity Designer to make the graphics.

Man, it's bittersweet that in my last year of teaching I finally have almost every student pass the AP Physics 1 test. That new curriculum helped, but I also finally had a good system of test prep.

What if a college was recruiting a girl who ran a 4:30 mile, but downgraded her scholarship because she ran a 6:30 in 9th grade? That's exactly what they do with GPA, weighing your abilities from 3 years ago the same as your accomplishments today. #edusky #gradingreform

I made a graphic of my favorite Physics Youtubers. I feel like the Golden Age of Science YouTube was from about 2011-21, when most of these creators grew and hit their peak. When I first started teaching, most videos were around 5 minutes, which was perfect. 1/x

I have realized that my ideal classroom set up is having a jumbotron I can stand under so that students can all be in a circle, while still seeing me, the slides, and each other.

Hey #EduSky, no one prepared me for how much time testing takes (and wastes). The obvious answer to this is more assessing outside of tests, but at some point, you need summative, individual assessments of learning.
The dilemma: say a test takes the average student 30 min. Some will finish in 10,

This would make a great T shirt to sell at Halloween.
Actual question from reporter: "Why don't you wear a suit?"

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy: "I will wear costume after this war will finish."

Another interesting Spanish Physics translation. Instead of the word Voltage, they say "Tensión." That's a neat analogy to a physical force. #iteachphysics

Jim Gaffigan during the #Grammys "I don't know how to say this, but during the break, Trevor Noah was traded to the Dallas Mavericks." I think every NBA fan laughed out loud at that.

I tried to listen to every Grammy nominee this year. I made it through half! Here are my favorites in each category. These are my opinions, not predictions, but I really hope that Beyoncé and Billie Eilish win more awards than Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX.

The Utah House just passed a bill that bans public unions from bargaining for their members. We now have to meet individually with our leaders. So, when it comes time to negotiate pay increases, I hope superintendents clear their schedules to meet with 500 teachers. www.kuer.org/politics-gov...
Utah House passes bill to block public sector unions from collective bargaining
Lawmakers said they’ve received hundreds of messages from people opposed to the bill, but it still passed the House on a 42-to-32 vote.

I enjoy letting my students request songs for our class Spotify playlist.

Last week one of my boys thought it'd be funny to choose a march from Nazi germany.

I hate that we have celebrities teaching our kids that they can do and say hateful things as long as they wink and say they were kidding.

I don't care that your app has a new name.
I don't care that its logo is now worse.
I don't care that it is being revolutionized by AI.
I don't care that someone new is getting rich off my data.
I just want it to do the thing I downloaded it to do.
Thank you.
