✍🏽Tips for Success in NSFW Script Writing ✍🏽
#1. WRITE: That's your job. You need to write. Notice I didn't say "write well" or "write amazing content"; that's not your job. If you want this to be a job or form of income, then your job is putting words down. Wait for the "is this good" later. Write every day, even just 10 words, if you can. #2. BE CONSISTENT: "Why aren't my scripts getting filled?" It could be the quality of your writing, your writing style, or that you don't post that often. Regardless, you're more likely to get fills if people keep seeing you in their feeds. If they end up liking one script, they'll probably check out the rest. #3. FILL YOUR OWN SCRIPTS: Not actually, but take the time to pretend that you're a VA and fill your own script. Does the dialogue feel weird? Are the SFX extremely specific and challenging to find online for free? If so, you now know how to make your script more appealing to VAs because you UNDERSTAND what they're looking for. #4. FIND A GOOD BETA READER: Not all Beta Readers are built the same. Make sure you feel comfortable getting feedback from this person and that they're someone whose work you admire and respect. OR at least familiar enough with your type of writing (romance, horror, etc.) to give helpful feedback. This is how your writing goes from "words" to "good words"! #5: TITLES: Yes, my titles are stupid and very long and porny BUT IT FUCKING WORKS. You are posting your writing in a market HEAVILY saturated. This method is successful because it allows the reader or VA to know exactly what your script is about in less than 10 seconds, rather than having to process the title and tags and read an entire summary. "But I hate it Billy! It cheapens my writing!" Sorry man, that's the game. Draw them in with the lame porn title and keep them there with your fantastic storytelling. When you make it big, you can title your stuff whatever you want, but right now your job is to get noticed and your scripts FILLED. #6. PUT YOUR MONETIZATION POLICY ON YOUR GODDAMN PROFILE: Most VAs don't have time to wait for you to reply to them to see if you allow monetization, what you charge, etc. Write it out. I know many VAs (myself included) who will skip your scripts because I'm not confident I'm gonna get a reply in time, and most of us work on a fast-paced schedule. DO NOT MAKE IT HARDER FOR PEOPLE TO PAY YOU. #7. BE A GOOD PERSON: It's pretty simple. If you're an arrogant asshole or causing problems in the community, I don't care if you're Stephen King. I will avoid your writing. On that same note, I'm more likely to take time to read your writing if I see that you're a decent person. People like to create for people who make them feel good. #8. PRICING: This one is tricky and will vary per writer, however, it's often a question of "Do I want to wait for a bigger pay day or get more comms/pay wall fees?" If you're pricing your scripts for the 1% of VAs who can afford them (500+ patrons a month type VAs), then that percentage will often align with the number of VAs who will comm you. If you want to get MORE comms MORE often, then you need to price for the 99%. #9. FULL-TIME: I will be frank with you. Making a full-time living in 2025 as an NSFW script writer is extremely difficult, and very rare. I don't know a single person who does it full-time who solely supports themselves. Is it possible? Of course! But with so many free scripts available to monetize and fill, it isn't easy to persuade someone to regularly pay you $150-200 a script when 20 others are available for $25 to $50 or FREE. I think getting involved with Quinn and other big corporate erotica apps is the most feasible way. The market is VERY saturated, though. #10. NETWORK: Yeah, it sucks, I know, but that's the game. The more people like you see your kindness or how hard you work, the more people will want to be part of your success story. VAs, readers, writers, listeners, and LUCK all play a massive part in making it big. You can be the best writer in the world, but if no one sees it, then they can't fill it. #11. WRITING IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN: Remember why you're here. You've probably worked plenty of jobs you've hated in the past. Don't make your passion into one. Find a good work/life balance and "play the game" to your comfort level. #12. KEEP WRITING: Don't let any of these recommendations discourage you, but rather, use them as tools to navigate your path towards the success you want as a writer. It will be hard, but much like the penises you write about, it's worth it. Good luck!
