Depictions of the First World War have far too often erased human lives from history in favour of gender norms, whiteness, and heteronormativity. But that was not the reality. There is a tapestry of diverse experiences that has been historically excluded.

I've been digging into the MUN budget. Despite these "necessary" cuts to things like the Harris Centre, the admin is adding an extra $1,536,493 Administrative Salaries totalling $126,665,836 for 2025-26.
They allocated $470,915 for 100th anniversary programming and to a Canada games project office.

The MUN cuts to public engagement and the Harris Centre are beyond frustrating, the university is seriously going to do anything except cut the bloated administration.

If you want to minimize the influence of the far right, defunding public institutions is not the way to go about it.

Instead of giving in to the demands and implementing "border security" measures to appease the Trump regime, Canada should instead follow the path of Denmark when faced with an aggressive fascist neighbour.

#booksky has anyone else had similar interpretations of The Testaments? Or was it just me?
(Spoiler warning for my post below)
Spoilers for The Testaments by @margaretatwood.bsky.social
The book completely fumbled what could be a beautiful queer storyline between Agnes and Becka. In this climate more than ever we need narratives about queer love during hard times. I hope they fix this and go that direction in the tv show.

Today I learned Newfoundland and Labrador had some of the earliest public funded healthcare in Canadian history, dating back to 1935!

On this day in 1916, the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel was fought. In the battle, the Royal Newfoundland Regiment suffered heavy casualties with 80% of its soldiers dead or wounded in the space of one morning.
Today is known as Memorial Day in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Honestly at this point Canada should just let him put the tariffs in place and find other trade partners. Remember how supposedly all of this started because of fentanyl? Now it’s the digital services tax which was announced ages ago.

My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.

If privacy is important anywhere, it is in the context of politics. If it is important at any time, that time is now.

To trans U.S. citizens: do it while you can. It could be useful even if you are moving abroad soon, or need to claim asylum some day in the future.

Today marks 3 years since I first completed a name change application for someone else.

Since then, I've helped accompany over 1,000 trans people complete such changes across Canada.

If there's one takeaway I can take from all of this, it's: trans rights are privacy rights. Here's why. (1/🧵)

“To the extent that protests or acts of violence directly inhibit the execution of the laws, they constitute a form of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States.” Protests that inhibit the execution of laws are considered a “rebellion.” This sets a dangerous precedent.
There is no bigger story right now than the White House asserting that California residents are in a state "of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States."
