This morning I made the grave mistake of complaining about snowfall in Reykjavík, and not about all the Bad Things that are going on in the world.
I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone affected. I will be taking the next few months to reflect on how best to move forward.

We must stop demanding performances of rage from people to even entertain the idea they're on our side. It's done nothing but make people prioritize being seen saying the exact right things over doing what needs to be done without recording it as proof
so the thing is
just because someone is not posting about every horror, does not mean they aren't paying attention or being active in opposition, and I do hope people can learn to read for other signs of resistance rather than demand people create a 24/7 feed of screaming

people have no excuse to be excited to deadname and misgender someone. My ex was abusive and is also trans. I'll never deadname or misgender him. We can critique the bad things people do without weaponizing who they are.
What you are doing by deadnaming Caitlyn Jenner is telling the trans people around you that your support is conditional, as well as tipping your hand as to how you actually see us.

I started doing a preliminary look at my stats and wrap up and this year was so much better than last year.
I read fewer books but more 5 stars and I'm having such a hard time limiting my honorable mentions (which excludes my 5 star reads and monthly top pick) below 45!!

I’m not even exaggerating when I say I think the children’s media I consumed at a wee one that championed kids being abused yet staying warm, sweet, and never losing their temper at anyone for any reason ever did WAY more damage to me than any dark romance I’ve read as as an adult could ever do

When someone says “think of the children” to justify policing what books adults read/write while proposing censorship-adjacent measures (rather than for improved education so kids have better reading comprehension and media literacy) it tells me everything I need to know abouth their real concern 🫡
