The future of disability health equity research is uncertain, but philanthropy has an opportunity to keep this essential work moving forward. Too often funders invest in academic centers & efforts not led by disabled people - that must change to address layered inequities disabled people face.
Thank you @metrauxjulia.bsky.social! Our work, and that of so many others, is in jeopardy. It is time for philanthropic orgs to commit to funding disability-led health equity efforts, especially in academia where attacks are coming from all sides.

Major shout-out to @bonnieswenor.bsky.social (and the Disability Health Equity Research Network folks who *aren't* on Bsky) for their fierce advocacy and leadership around both this and the NIH's designation of people with disabilities as a population experiencing health inequities.
