2/3rds of Colorado schools are in denial and think they can just-say-no their way through fentanyl www.denverpost.com/2023/10/06/n...
More Colorado schools stock overdose reversal meds, but others worry about stigma
Though more districts have signed on since last year, only about a third of Colorado districts had enrolled in the state’s giveaway program at the start of this school year.

🙏Thank you community! City Council has voted, & everything that we were pushing to have included in the 2024 budget will be sent in council's recommendation letter to Mayor Johnston. 🎉

He must submit his revised budget by Oct 16th, before the Oct 23rd public hearing. Don't let the pressure up!

Tell Mayor Johnston & Denver City Council that Denver has much better things to invest in than already-bloated systems that don't keep us safe and actively harm our communities. #copolitics

💵 Fund stability. Fund community. Fund health. Fund REAL public safety.

🎙 ***tap tap*** Is this thing on?

It's budget season in Denver!

Did you know that Denver already spends ✨37% of the city budget✨ on the Department of Public Safety??

Bloated police budgets defund our communities, and throwing more money at policing doesn't make us any safer.

I plead with the officer who is driving to turn back and let me go home.

"If you didn't want this to happen, you shouldn't have called a crisis hotline. You did this to yourself. This is your fault", he said as he looked at me in his rear-view mirror. 23/

On paper, Colorado did something big in 2018, becoming the 1st state to vote to abolish slavery. But in reality, CO prisoners are still being forced to work, under threat of punishment.

Important new story from @bolts.bsky.social:

Forced Labor Continues in Colorado, Years After Vote to End Prison Slavery
Coloradans voted in 2018 to amend their state constitution to ban forced labor in prison. Years later, incarcerated people are still being punished for refusing work assignments.

Amazing example of local journalism producing state-level changes.

As a result of Josh’s investigation into overpriced phone calls for ppl who are locked up in one county’s jail, there are now bills seeking to make all calls free STATE-wide in PA.
1/4 Some big news in the legislature relating to the cost of phone calls and communications for incarcerated people! Our reporting on the profiteering by ViaPath and significant questionable spending of commissions at Dauphin County Prison has led to the introduction of 2 bills.
