Here's the #mpreg part! Herds grow by producing offspring, so regardless of the type, someone in every herd is usually pregnant, whether it's a herd leader or one of his sons. Wild bikers are quite big, so their pregnancies are proportionally lengthy and typically produce multiple young. #mpregbirth

Mating behaviours between bonded pairs persist late into pregnancy, strongly suggesting that they serve a social purpose rather than being purely in the interest of breeding and producing offspring. This tracks neatly with observations of frequent couplings between pairs and between newly-introduced strangers where neither partner is currently in season and there is clearly no intention of producing any young; the apparent affection involved in such couplings, especially between herd leaders, lends weight to these theories.

An experienced herd leader gives birth to the first of his latest litter. While younger individuals can find the process of giving birth difficult and unsettling, mature bikers, who have typically given birth several times and are accustomed to producing twins or triplets (rather than the singlets they routinely bore as youngsters), tend to labour and deliver very calmly. The largest currently known litter was produced by such a herd leader and totalled five young, though this record is disputed due to the birth not having been observed.

OH SHIT I FORGOT TO POST LAST YEAR'S EXCLUSIVE ON THE 1ST HERE IT IS LOL. Last year the Patrons learned all about the social (and mating) habits of wild bikers! 🏍️

Wild bikers may live in a variety of ways, with their herd structures having the largest influence on how they interact with each other.

Who breeds with whom and how often has the largest impact on how the herd operates & interacts with outsiders. "Type 1" shows a family tree with two herd leaders at its top, their sons under them & their grandson, the child of a son & a mystery mate, at the bottom. The description of Type 1 reads: Family unit consisting of herd leaders, their sons & grandsons. Herd leaders may occasionally mate & produce offspring, but most of the herd's numbers come from younger members mating with outsiders. Type 1 herds are the most common & are typically small to medium sized, usually comprised of 5-20 members, but some very old Type 1 herds may have as many as 50 individuals. These herds are generally amicable towards strangers as these may be potential mates; breeding is therefore infrequent & opportunistic. Type 1 herds grow slowly & are close-knit. "Type 2" shows a pair of herd leaders over a long line of sons, ranging from adults to children and newborns. The description of Type 2 reads: Family unit consisting of herd leaders & their immediate offspring. Herd leaders are the only ones who breed, with their sons attending to the herd's needs. Type 2 herds are usually very small; given that the presence of velvet-bearing young suppresses the breeding cycles of their caregivers & the leaders' sons will not breed amongst themselves, such herds are usually very limited in terms of how quickly they can grow. However, one especially well established Type 2 herd is on record as one of the very largest known due to a unique behaviour: The rearing of young is taken on entirely by the eldest sons, leaving the leaders free to breed continuously. Type 2 herds have little interest in strangers & are therefore aloof towards outsiders, but larger herds may defend their territory jealously.

The description of Type 3 reads: Very small herd consisting of one herd leader & a handful of unrelated subordinates. Type 3 herds are a fairly common means by which young bikers may strike out on their own without having to risk being fully alone. These herds usually form spontaneously when one or more such youngsters opt to "join up" with a previous mate on a permanent basis, usually a larger, older solo biker (colloquially referred to as a "Casanova") whose wisdom & experience can benefit them. In exchange, the subordinates will mate with their new herd leader & produce offspring with him. These small herds are usually short lived, as the subordinates will often choose to push their herd leader out & mate amongst themselves if he fails to keep them sufficiently appeased. For this reason, such a herd leader can be aggressive towards outsiders who might steal his mates & will require considerable pacification from would-be suitors. "Type 4" shows the same Casanova surrounded by numerous mystery mates & the equally numerous mystery offspring he has sired with them. The description of Type 4 reads: Less a "herd" & more a lifestyle, some bikers may opt to travel alone, with no other herd members for company. These "Casanova" bikers are usually older, more experienced individuals who can live self-sufficiently with relative ease. All of a Casanova's business in life is travelling to find mates, usually by visiting other herds. As such, he is typically very gregarious & good at making friends! Lacking the support of a herd or a territory of his own, he will almost always sire young instead of bearing them & leave the work of raising them to someone else.

Wild bikers are frequently observed to engage in mating behaviours with strangers as a means of conflict avoidance. Typically, the approaching stranger will present to the invidivual whose territory he has entered and offer to allow him to mate with him, and the "host" will show his interest and peaceful intentions by showing an erection. Breeding status has no bearing on such a coupling (although it can be difficult to determine said status in rare jet black individuals such as the wandering "Casanova" in our example, as they lack visible breeding colours).

These are rarely full couplings and may only last a few moments, but they will occur often while the new companions become acquainted with oneanother. More involved couplings that last longer and end in climax are typically reserved for bonded pairs (although if climax does occur during a quick "social" mating, no one seems to complain!) Lasting bonds are frequently forced in this way! This "Casanova" will be welcome in this herd leader's territory going forward - especially if he allows both herd leaders to mate with him!
