In 2017 Ruroni Kenshin mangaka Nobuhiro Watsuki was caught with enough child pornography that he was suspected of distributing. He was only fined roughly $1500 USD and his sequel was allowed to continue after a temporary hiatus.

Crunchyroll continues to support him by airing the sequel anime.
