I don’t think we humans are necessarily better at performing the zero-tolerance-for-error type of tasks but it is true that our preference is clearly for those tasks being done by humans, not machines. The Q of what that means to us isn’t an ideological one.

+1 to the idea of “scaling down” the computing infrastructure and what that can mean, as long as it is pursued for more sustainability and more responsible computing (not just for the sake of austerity and doming more with less)! #cnifall25

If more humans start speaking AI language, doesn’t that make AI language just another variation of human language? AI slop or kitsch normalized?

“A recent study found that A.I. language is increasingly coming out of human mouths.“

It occurred to me that my love for various cleaning tools/agents may signify my unending hope for renewal for everything (including the dirtiest and oldest oven rack)! 😆 (only if my hope led to actual cleaning action more often!!)

It’s like sb was listening to me harping on missing the mix tapes (not so much LPs)! Mix tapes gave us the most wonderful form of practicing/experiencing copy*left* (not in the legal sense) but in the sense of curating and sharing in our most ordinary life, imho. 🙌@jasonclark.bsky.social #copyleft

Navigating London subway with a suitcase made me wonder why Google or Apple Map does not provide the public transportation directions *with a step-free/accessibility-friendly option* for large cities. Kudos to city of London providing detailed info: tfl.gov.uk/travel-infor...

What would be some of the concrete and *realistic* terms/features of “responsible AI” practices in your opinion (not of the pie-in-the-sky type)? I would love to hear from folks at #FF2025 if you have thoughts on this topic. Thank you!

“AI use to identify & remove redundant, obsolete, trivial (ROT) records to reduce their digital heap.” 🙌 I think information decluttering, info hygiene, selective archiving at scale will become critical given the rising cost (IT and beyond) and energy impact of large data storage & mgmt. #FF2025

I would say no technology is inherently for austerity (or abundance). Today’s leaning into austerity is driven by the (universalized) desire for “more” rather than “less” imho. Humans don’t have a good track record on “just enough” in anything, but it would be exciting to see that change. #FF2025
