A coincidence I’m sure
My story on Elon Musk cutting safeguards at xAI is on the front page of today's @washingtonpost.com. I’m also among 100’s of reporters laid off. I absolutely loved my job my brilliant coworkers & the thrill of reporting @ the center of forces upending the world: AI & Silicon Valley’s political power

This is excellent, the House of Lords definitely needs a clear out, if not reform or abolition

I wonder if anyone has kept a list of the members misdemeanors?

TRUMP: You are so bad. You are the worst report. No wonder CNN has no ratings. She's a young woman. I don't think I've ever seen you smile. They should be ashamed of you.

So much of this is "...not yet"

AI can't be used for the automation of long or complex tasks - YET
AI is not capable of fully autonomous cyber-attacks - YET

I'd like to add "... and before the cash runs out"

1/ Trump may of course respond to this by freaking out and issuing all sorts of tariff threats.

However as with giving up Greenland I really don't think the EU can afford the precedent of a criminal investigation at the member state level being unwound through threats to tax US citizen purchases.

NEW: Who was John Pond?

This August 2009 email exchange which was forwarded to Jeffrey Epstein included Mandelson, the PM's PPS Jeremy Heywood, the minister/adviser Shriti Vadera and... John Pond.

Two sources have told the BBC that John Pond was in fact Gordon Brown, then the PM

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely
It's rare to see how lobbyists operate. But the Epstein-Mandelson correspondence shows us what happens all the time: plutocrats and government ministers conspiring against the public interest. This is why all lobbying should be in the public domain, but despite Labour and Con promises, it's not. 🧵

Indeed, it is the democratization of knowledge part that the hierarchy find offensive
I refuse to accept the labelling of science as ‘left-wing’. Not only because I think this is largely aimed at discrediting facts as opinions, but also -for any insider- it’s so untrue. The echelons of science are too traditional, hierarchical & club-based to qualify for any sort of progressive left.
