Can't believe this country voted for such a moron.
I vote against the GOP in every election for any position. All blue.
Trump's attack on Iran was driven solely by narcissistic jealousy over Bibi's glowing coverage on Fox Noise.

(1) Sharing the house with rescue animals can be the most rewarding experience, but it can also be heartbreaking.

These last 11 months have been tough.

In June 2024, we lost Katy, my walking companion. She was a black Rottweiler/Lab mix, and was spirited yet very loving. I took it hard.

For Missy, nothing beats snoozing in the sun in Dad's office!

Parker and Snowy are becoming friends, but I didn't expect this.

Our house looks like a preschool. Inside the tube is Missy, our latest rescue cat. Snowy is keeping an eye on her. Our two FIV positive cats have a big age difference - Snowy is 8, while Missy is somewhere in the 1 to 2 year range.

Egads! Dogs and cats living together!
This is Parker, the 11 year old rescue we've had since he was 1, being tolerant of Snowy, who just wants attention.

I just finished the book Station Eleven by @emilymandel.bsky.social . I was so taken by the writing that I read it twice in succession, something I have rarely done. This book was one I bought at my local bookstore based on the description written by one of the clerks. Highly recommended!

This is our newest rescue cat, Missy. Our other rescue, Snowy, is FIV positive, and our vet recommended we only pair him with FIV+ cats. I considered it a good omen that Missy is also FIV+. You'd never know it - she's a spunky little thing!

This is a well-written thought piece about the transition from 20th century politics to the current political environment. Well worth reading!
It also offers a road map for us to more effectively reach voters.

THIS is 💯 how I feel.

We can’t wait until the midterms to DO SOMETHING!

The felon is destroying our country more and more each day, and our elected Dems need to speak up NOW.

This is Parker, our 11 year old rescue dog. We've had him for 10 years, and he's as fearful of strangers now as he was when we first met him. Once he warms up to you, though, he'll sit beside you looking for scratches. He is a very good boy -- he even tolerates our cat, Snowy!

The contrast between Jimmy Carter and the President-elect could not be greater. Jimmy Carter lived a life we can only aspire to. He was a role model worthy of admiration, and someone our children and grandchildren could look up to.
The President-elect and his entourage? Not so much.

Here's the obligatory "cat under the tree" photo. This is Snowy, our rescue cat!

This is Snowy, our rescue cat. He loves to be touched, and his favorite place is my wife's lap. So glad we met him!

The only shopping we did today was to go to our local bookstore. The employees there are avid readers judging by the number of descriptions and recommendations sprinkled throughout the shelves.
I picked up some books by authors I haven't read before based on those notes. A win!

I can't think of any guitarist I've ever played with who would be caught dead even holding a Trump guitar, let alone playing one. Who thought this was a good idea?

It's disheartening that in an age where knowledge has never been more accessible - the United States is about to be governed by an administration so primitive and ignorant as to believe that tariffs are good and that vaccines are bad.

Another outstanding thread from @crampell.bsky.social. I find her to be articles to be insightful and very well written.

Had the charges been filed even 6 months earlier, perhaps this depressing, but expected, outcome might not have happened. Grrr.

If you want to feel old, Stacy Lattisaw -- who hit the big time when she was 14 or 15 -- turns 58 today. She was from DC and was produced by Narada Michael Walden.

This is very thought-provoking. There are times I'm unmotivated or uninspired. Perhaps just being there may motivate or inspire someone else.
Perhaps your creativity has fallen into a deep slumber lately.

Moments of uncertainty can make you wonder why your talent matters.

But what if your art motivates determination in others? What if your words inspire a reason to hope?

You are a warrior of imaginative vision. People need your light.

How true. Wonder what *this* goes to?
It's nearly 2025, and you still have a box of wires like this in your house.

Virginia, like the US as a whole, has blue urban areas (Richmond, the suburbs of DC) and large swaths of red areas. The colleges and universities along I-81 are blue dots in a sea of red.
Get-out-the-vote efforts will be critical.

Don't let the anger over Trump distract us from work we can be doing. Abigail Spanberger (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abigail... and @spanbergerforva.bsky.social ) has announced she is running for Virginia governor. Fortunately, Youngkin is term limited, so the election is wide open.
