Well, I didn't find it Zen, but that's down to deadlines... Do it, jump in and get the lifeboat! It's a great hobby with generally low cost to entry. You can take as much time as you need/can get (kids). I took 8 years to build my first guitar!

I mean I couldn't do it easily! I sound arrogant if you don't read this bit

I was a professional model maker, mainly working in architecture, and product design, but I done some film and TV bits too. Like everything, practice makes perfect. I scratch built, but I'm in awe of some kit builders with their level of detail. I could do it easily! Here's an example

It will be a nice thing to do with your kid once he's older. I really enjoyed doing one last year with my 8 yo, but his patients waiting for glue and paint to dry was a bit hard for him.

Just don't do it professionally! Not Zen. Now I don't do it professionally, I keep on looking back into it. By the way, are you patient?

I've had the odd day in the Cairngorms, but that's about it. Annoying my mum lives at the base of the Sierra Nevada's in Spain. The snow looks incredible. Much underused resource. There are buses from Granada!

Like many jobs, especially in/for management, people need to be seen to be doing something to justify their job. So they are always fiddling with things and systems. My bugbear is supermarkets needlessly moving stock around the shop. Software is another.

There's also a great one on Muscle shoals. I wish I had 1% of the talent any of the musicians possessed

Watch a lovely doc on the Wrecking Crew by the son of Tommy Tedesco. I knew they played on a lot of records, but my god! Did any American band play their instruments in the 60's? Was there a British version of the Wrecking Crew? Chas and Dave?

I own the original (?) and at least 4 covers (mostly by Yo La Tengo)

I had a great time travelling the US on Amtrak in 2001, but being a tourist you have a different perspective. However, here in the UK...
I'm with you. Headphones are a must.

Post a pic of the venue where you saw your first concert and the artist.

#NP Getting through my Jazzman purchases (mainly in the car). Subjecting the kid to this (it's called education...) Mighty fine so far. Grogu approved. Just don't ask which drugs he's been taking.

I wonder if it's because he owes Little Simz a fare whack?
January 9, 2026 at 8:51 PM
Yes, I remember having a nose at the auction, I suspected it might get a bit pricey. Probably not worth auctioning off the CDs though.
