On gamedev note, I ran into Scratch the other day after hearing much about it, lit up so many dormant parts of my brain. I still intend to continue learning Unity for 3D but this will be good for some experimentation.

Not really big on battle-royale & adjacent subgenre like extraction shooters but I did decide to take a dip into Hunt Showdown - it was an interesting rendition in contrast to some hodge-podge military/post-apocalyptic setting at least. A lot of interesting little details & sort of nuanced gunplay.

following mainstream trends w/ a team of highly creative people only undercuts their strengths - you can try to be better than the rest in a highly competitive market that tries to be as broadly appealing as possible or you can build something with personality that becomes its own niche(& then some)

oh i love that absolutely mythical episode where they spend an entire episode forging the ultimate weapon and finding the strongest warrior to wield it to face SJ, only to be taken down with a single blow by the end, all without a single line of dialogue

it has remained with me for so long
Samurai Jack is a classic. And it's fueled by its rich images -- the backgrounds, animation and visual storytelling.

Genndy Tartakovsky was sick of dialogue. He wanted to take a risk on a visual series, and Cartoon Network supported it. We explore:

anime still hasn't answered the question, is it possible to have feelings for a minimalist giant robot?
