Yesterday I had some unexpected time off. I've been working a huge amount lately as I've got so much on in November, and haven't taken much time for myself.

It was a beautiful day, so my husband and I went for a walk at our local National Trust place. I didn't realise quite how much I needed that.

#WIPWednesday 🧶 I decided to experiment with double knitting, making a cowl using the chart from a stranded pattern: Reversible Owl Cowl by @meerbuschknitter.bsky.social Yarn is the wonderful BFL/Shetland/Alpaca 4ply by @bluebellyarns.co.uk in Deep Blue Sea and Frangipani. Progress is slow but fun!

Not quite a Friday finish for my beanie, but it's done now, and I am v pleased with it! Lashed together from a couple of charts of the Cherishing Every Aspect of Life sweater, creating a useful swatch, this is a colourwork beanie using @bluebellyarns.co.uk 's lovely yarns. It still needs blocking.

#FOFriday 🧶 It's Friday again, & I have a finish! Swatching for a colourwork sweater, but rather than just little swatches, I decided to knit a cowl using the sweater charts to test gauge. @bluebellyarns.co.uk

If you need a certain yarn or colourway but you can't find it on my website, please get in touch!

I love trying to create the perfect yarn for your project. It's one of my favourite parts of this job!

(I won't copy another dyer's work though, so don't even ask)

Sad but true, but I love it, and loved knitting with the Sunny Day lace, I felt cheerful every time I picked the shawl up to knit it. I also used your BFL Shetland Alpaca DK for Samhain - the yellowy Autumn Forest colourway is so exactly right for an autumnal theme. www.ravelry.com/projects/flo...

A few years ago I designed and knit Solstice in a bright vibrant yellow lace handdyed by @bluebellyarns.co.uk The pattern was subsequently bought and published by KnitPicks, but once I have the rights again I'll self-publish with the original photos because I love the yellow so much!

I've made a couple of cardies with Becca's hand dyed wool. So comfy to wear, and zero colour bleeding.

It always feels way too early to be thinking about this kind of thing, but they take a long time to make!

#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 What a great prompt! I love yarns dyed by indie dyers. One of my favourites is Becca @ Bluebell Yarns @bluebellyarns.co.uk She specialises in non-superwash, which is my preferred yarn type, and the colours she achieves are glorious. Details in Alt text.

A little look at a new yarn base that I'll be bringing to The Sodbury Yarn Over this weekend.

Bluefaced Leicester chunky is so deliciously soft and squishy it has to be felt to be truly appreciated. It'll be available online as soon after the show as I can manage! #HandDyedYarn

To get to my studio I have to drive down an A road. The main A road between my part of Dorset and Devon. So you know, not a busy road at all...

Every month or two, a manhole cover collapses. Temporary traffic lights are added and it takes them about a week to repair. It causes so much traffic.

I played in an epic sci-fi & space themed concert last night. Not only did we play excellently, we had a tardis, Daleks, K9, R2D2 and loads of excellent other guests! Every concert with this band is better than the last and I have no idea how we're going to beat this one!

So much yarn in the dye pots today as I'm under two weeks from my next show!

Some yarn I ordered hasn't even been dispatched, and more I need isn't even in stock to order.

I'm sure everything will be fine, I may just be a bit short of some things.

Had an all day band rehearsal yesterday, followed by quiz. We came last, however got the question about a sheep breed (Mouflon) right. It would've been very embarassing if we didn't, considering how much of my life is based around wool and therefore sheep!

I don't know who was more surprised. I just got home, opened the gate, and...fox!

It then tried going back to sleep but I had to get by which scared it off, even though I tried bribing it with food to just move over to another bit of garden.

You may have seen that I broke a single interchangeable Chiaogoo and cable a couple of weeks ago.

The replacement arrived today, and I got the whole set.

I'm hoping the shorter needles mean less stress on the joints while sock knitting.
