We've got some fantastic nature news to brighten your day 🎉

Wicken Fen has become the first UK nature reserve to record an incredible 10,000 species. A moth that imitates a wasp was the 10,000th species to be recorded. This work is possible thanks to a major grant from The Nature Recovery Project.

Turns out multicursal is *not* the adjective to use when describing a challenging, yet eventually achievable task (eg setting those teeny square gems, in a handmade 3x3mm bezel was a multicursal task)
As always, a brilliant piece of #flashFiction from @chronicleflask.katday.com
A Multicursal Puzzle
Patricia turned a corner in the maze she’d been working her way through for the last two hours and stopped. In front of her were two heavy wooden doors, and standing in front of these, two guards. …

Hurrah! Royal Mail have come up with a fabulous solution to posting to the USA, and I've been able to bodge something on my website to enable me to calculate and collect the customs due. I've just set up an email to previous customers clarifying the situation, and I'm hopeful that I'll be able to implement the collection of duty at purchase rather than at delivery.

A treat to start September! My Women's Prize-shortlisted novel about the Trojan War, A Thousand Ships, is just £3.99 on Audible. Read by the author...

Another jewellery reworking this month. I'm always surprised by how people manage to find me - I don't do any advertising, other than a big banner if I'm at an event, and stuffing business cards into every order, but a surprising number of people seem to find me from an internet search. It's not much of an advertisement! This reworking was one of those.

When we say Ancient Rome or Roman Empire we usually think of blokes with swords snarling at and fighting an enemy. But what about domestic life, the everyday back at home? Who washed the dishes, and how? www.alison-morton.com/2023/11/09/r...

I got permission to share this, and I'm extremely grateful for that.

The Onion got this letter from one of our subscribers in Alaska. She works with dementia patients and decided to leave a copy in the car for each one.

This email made my year. Read it and you'll see what I mean. People are good.

....To work with someone else's jewellery! As you may know, I attend a few fairs, and particularly love the fibre/yarny ones. At Great British Fibre Festival* last weekend, I had the joy of being opposite Carrie of Blacklands Alpaca. Her family produce all the fleece and resulting yarn from their own herd, and every time I see her, I buy a ball and a small amount to my stash.
