one of the big lessons re conservatives and especially conservative christians is that they are more satisfied by being comparatively better off than others rather than being better off in absolute terms.

they’re perfectly happy to lose if you lose more.
There are a lot of conservstives screaming "THIS IS WHAT GOD WANTS" as their lives get measurably worse.

I get that they're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Here's what I'd do - commission "modern" versions of the anthem - a different one for each concert, increasingly dissonant/distinct. Obey the letter of the law, but mock the spirit of it. Flagrantly. Y'know, Shostakovich the hell out of it.

Platner is like a runner who's been hiding a ball and chain under his pant leg. Even if we accept that he did nothing illegal, or that he did and just didn't know the consequences of his act when he did it (a hard sell), the race is about to start, and he'd have to run the race that way.

Drop out.

I understand the sentiment. But it's going to have to be torn down. The sooner, the better.

In #ScienceUnderSiege, we discuss how belief in weather modification & chemtrails are actually gateway beliefs to climate denial and antiscience conspiratorial ideation. There's a reason that fossil fuel shill Lee Zeldin is encouraging these conspiracy theories.
EPA Commissioner Lee Zeldin announces his agency is launching a major investigation into the right-wing conspiracies about chemtrails and weather manipulation to get to the bottom of it.

We've been waiting > 5yrs to see one of these in the yard. The native Carolina mantis. We've dispatched dozens of invasive Chinese mantis egg cases with the hope that we'd eventually get these natives back.

And we finally did. On the car (we gently placed it in the mistflowers).

Maybe this will finally prompt us to institute an accuracy doctrine on all platforms (including mainstream media). First amendment says you can say whatever you'd like. But it has to be *clearly* labeled as non-news/false if not actually true. If that label is removed, you're in violation.

A remarkable self-own and considerable academic stain on Texas Tech. Could someone start a head of lettuce timer to see how long this lasts? My guess is that once again the lettuce will win.

This is 2025’s “I can’t breathe.”

Do not turn away. Get really loud.

Protest. Call your electeds.

Do not give up. Do not despair. You never know what will tip the scale.

This is immoral & unjust & inhumane.

By the way, Disney, either option is a loss for you. Have you learned yet that having Republicans in office is not a good business strategy in the long run? Perhaps you need to think a bit more carefully about where your political donations are going come election season.
Aside from the blatantly unconstitutional nature of this statement, it also points to just how bad a businessman he is.

I can see Disney execs now weighing their options. 16-20 million for Trump vs. > 3 billion loss in stock value as a result of the cancellation.
This post alone would be enough in Europe for a president or prime minister to lose their job.

In the US, it’s just another day at the office, which shows how it’s slipping into a sad dictatorship

Well, there it is. Sinclair is digging in for a fight, so please help push back -- find stations in your area, watch their local news to see what ads they run, then write those advertisers to tell them you're boycotting as long as they're on a Sinclair station.
