How to give words to how Cid effortlessly burrowed under his skin and became part of him, merging with the very marrow in his bones? “You were a dear friend to me,” Clive finally settles on. Woefully inadequate, but all that he can offer. I realized it too late, Clive doesn’t say, his chest constricting with the ache of it. I realized it too late, and then all I could do was love you in death.
