My unwanted opinion on how to deal with the non-problem of continuing James Bond: do something like the original Casino Royale movie - throw in 12 James Bonds, all completely different, in the same movie. Why not?

Just found out yesterday that the classic 80s song "I Melt With You" was intended to be a love ballad set during a nuclear holocaust. I honestly didn't think that the title referred literally to people melting

Found out recently that a member of the CSA cabinet fleeing the end of the Civil War with the gold from the Confederate treasury passed through the obscure Florida lake that I'm using as a story setting and I have to figure out a way to include that fact now #writingcommunity

I fully admit that I scour map images from Star Trek episodes to place systems and stellar objects now that they effectively use the Star Trek Star Charts book from 20 years ago as official

I finally did it - submitted my entry for the "Write Before Midnight" contest with 5 days and 3 words to spare! #writing #writingcommunity

Finished reading all the Elric books (up to the latest one), and now onwards to the Witcher series, since a new book is dropping in the States at the end of Sept #booksky

Finished reading the original six Elric novels. I had expected from reading about them that Elric would be more amoral, but his journey is about his morality rather than a lack thereof. Also, it's funny that his friend Moonglum has to constantly handle his basic finances for him. #booksky

When I decided to dust off my old personal databanks for Star Wars after a decade, due to the new Atlas update, I didn't expect I would have so much work. I still have about a dozen handbooks old and new to catalogue! #starwars

Finished my story for the "Write Before Midnight" short fiction contest! Hardest part was keeping it under the 7000 word limit #writingcommunity
August 6, 2025 at 9:51 PM
Ah, the twist and turns of life - putting aside working on a book to do a (maximum) 7000 word short story for something unexpected! 4200 in the past few days, so I'm happy. #writingcommunity

It's odd that Conan's traditional nemesis, Thoth-Amon, is never met by him in the original Howard stories and in the 1st story only battles a monster he sent because Thoth-Amon wanted revenge on a guy who was also trying to overthrow Conan and was attacking Conan when the monster arrived

I've always found myself on the "they're Men" side of the origin of orcs, but considering that the the regular orcs are generally shorter and two hobbits were able to disguise themselves easily, I'm wondering if there's a common origin there #lotr

With all the Witcher 4 excitement going on now, I'm such a dumb nerd because I'm going "Wow, we're going to see Kovir in the next game!"

Everyone's got their own take on how the Fallout universe timeline broke from our own, and I'm no exception:

All the buzz about Atomfall is that it "isn't the British Fallout", and having played it I can agree - it's the "British STALKER". You play an amnesiac, you're in a Zone (divided into minimaps) full of mutations, around an exploded nuclear power plant.

In the old 1980s adventure game Time Zone, you can kill Brutus to stop him from stabbing Caesar, but once you leave the game taunts you that Caesar immediately dies anyways tripping and hitting his head. If you then kill the Senate, the game goes "Oh, you're like that" and ends

In the middle (Hogfather) of a from-the-beginning Discworld readthrough, and didn't realize today was the 10th anniversary of his passing. So, here on the Roundworld clacks, GNU TERRY PRATCHETT. May your name circle 'round until the end. #booksky

Working on a bit on my Zork homage, and realized I got stalled on adding extra bits instead of focusing on finishing the main game, which is collecting the traditional 20 treasures. Is having fake treasures an awful thing to do to a player? #interactivefiction

February's almost over, but can add 9 more Discworld novels and 4 Newhon novels - onwards to the entire Thieves World collection, from the beginning! #booksky

Took a gander at my old unfinished interactive fiction game, "Sensitivity to Initial Conditions", an homage to the old Adventure/Zork games that kind of morphed into a critique of sorts. Thinking about trying to finish it up this year.

Final tally for Jan: All 9 Elric books, 3 Discworld novels, and the complete original Conan stories by Robert E Howard. Not bad, but hopefully I can do better for Feb! #booksky
February 2, 2025 at 5:22 AM
Despite having a busy month, I've managed to read all 9 Elric books and reread the first 2 Discworld novels. Currently on "Equal Rites" and the complete collection of Robert Howard's Conon stories. #booksky
