Ventrik and Tanya stand inside a vast underground chamber - a catch basin where multiple tunnels and storm drains converge. The chamber blends human infrastructure with something far more unsettling: massive concrete pipes pour wastewater from the streets above into shallow pools on the floor, while jagged, organic openings tear through the walls, clearly carved by creatures rather than machines. On the far side of the basin, a large, newly dug tunnel dominates the space, its rough, spiraling interior marking Scylla’s passage. Explosions thunder from the city above, their concussive force traveling down through the storm drains and echoing through the basin, making it sound as though a war is being fought on the surface streets. Ventrik explains that, if his calculations are correct, “she” is moving south, directly toward them. He reflects on the number of netwights & wraiths that may be attracting the creatures attention. Continuing, he questions why the entity is referred to as “her,” Ventrik explains that the name originates from a “very literary dwarf down on seven.” As the distant detonations and gunfire continue, the chamber shudders. Ventrik raises an arm instinctively as debris shakes loose and sections of earth collapse, water and stone shifting as the Scylla-dug tunnel looms ominously across the basin. Ventrik reflects that all of their efforts would be meaningless if the entity can simply claw through thousands of tons of earth, questioning whether any scientific or monetary reward could justify the risk to their lives. The final panel shifts again in time. Framed by fuzzy borders, the scene reveals a flashback to Ventrik’s office, where he types calmly at a computer. An unseen, off-screen voice responds to his concerns with a flat, detached statement: “That’s not part of the contract,”

Scylla page five escalates the confrontation between Ventrik and DeBarett, shifting from restrained debate to open hostility while maintaining the veneer of corporate control. In the opening panel, DeBarett leans aggressively across his desk toward Ventrik, bracing himself with both hands as he questions whether Ventrik truly wants to work for “those freaks,” warning that attempting to do so would likely result in Ventrik being a "brain in a jar" somewhere in Iron Wizards' tower. Ventrik remains seated and composed, absorbing the threat without visible reaction. The next panel shows DeBarett straightening up and spreading his hands dismissively, adding that such an outcome would only happen if anyone even considered Ventrik’s mind worthwhile. In the following panel, DeBarett turns away, posture rigid with authority, issuing a sharp order as he prepares to leave the office: Ventrik is to stay out of the sewers and is not to deploy another security team below ground. He reinforces the threat by stating that disobedience will result in the board cutting off Ventrik’s protection and feeding him to the gangs. Continues the confrontation introduced on page three of Chapter Three, focusing on a measured but increasingly pointed exchange between Ventrik and DeBarett inside the Metascience offices. The opening panel is a close-up of Ventrik’s face, his expression calm and unreadable behind reflective glasses as he questions the Circuits role in supporting interactions between the arcologies. He explains that no system can fully prevent theft or information loss and argues that, eventually, Metascience will have to work directly with other companies simply to maintain access to resources. Ventrik adds, with detached confidence, that no one is truly trapped in this place and that he could always return to the “real world” if he chose. The perspective then shifts to DeBarett, shown standing with his arms crossed, posture rigid despite his polished appearance. He dismisses Ventrik’s claim with a quiet scoff, pointing out that everyone has heard how people on the outside are treated, and that no one truly trusts them enough to make it past the cordon in the first place. DeBarett concedes, with restrained sarcasm, that Ventrik could go back to work in the outside world if he wished. From the continued Dystopia Chapter - Midwife, aborted - Page 25. The page opens with a wide nighttime view of an ordinary city made up of two- and three-story buildings. Fires burn in the streets and between rooftops in the foreground, their orange light flickering through thick smoke. In the distance, a single large complex dominates the skyline — a broad structure with a smooth, curved roof that stands intact amid the chaos. From the center of its roof, a brilliant column of yellow-white light shoots straight into the sky, piercing the clouds and illuminating the haze below. As the sequence continues, flashes of light burst across different city blocks while fragments of radio chatter overlay the visuals — commanders calling for reinforcements, reporting losses, trying to maintain order. The perspective shifts between low street-level views and wide aerial sweeps, returning to the curved-roof building where the unwavering beam continues to climb into the clouds.
