That was such a great day. Took the two dads up the glen where we’d been told there was an injured deer. I spotted it first but it was dad that lined the shot up first. The best bit was trying to get the carcass over the bonnet to bring it back. Think we all decided we were too old for it now.

Yesterday afternoon my parents arrived. They’re here for the next six weeks. I’m pleased they are.

Not many people realise I was born in the US and until this year I held an American passport, as well as my British and Norwegian ones. I did only live there for a few months and that was on base. Anyway Happy Thanksgiving you poor buggers and don’t eat too much pumpkin pie. Horrible stuff.

I love laying here listening to her sleep. I love that when I sleep and the demons come she wakes me gently stroking my hair and her whispers in my ear send them away. I love that she never asks about the demons. I’m sure she wants to know but a man’s demons should never be talked about.
