TIL: The US lost 5,607 rotary-wing aircraft and sacrificed 4,906 helicopter personnel in the Vietnam War (over 3,000 choppers lost were UH-1’s). The US death toll for helicopter personnel alone accounted for almost 10% of all US military casualties in Vietnam.
