Most resources on effective #PeerReview provide tangible & logistical suggestions for critically evaluating a manuscript but few provide advice for crafting a constructive, useful & collegial review.

We're still ironing out the administrative details of how to submit and all that, but it's officially in the works and should be available as an option for authors very soon!

A fantastic initiative from the journal Behavioural Ecology:

A new dedicated section called 'Replication Studies', which will publish results from replications in a short and snappy format.

In two weeks I am off to Glasgow for #OSM2026!

I'll be presenting new work on ecosystem effects of disease-driven mass mortalities & how this can influence land-based management approaches to combating #eutrophication.

Who else is attending & would be up for a chat!?

New paper out today in @meps-ir.bsky.social: www.int-res.com/abstracts/me...

Adult eastern oysters at their northern limit go dormant in winter by altering the fatty acid composition of their lipid membranes to adjust membrane fluidity.

But we don’t know how juvenile oysters overwinter.

Atlantic Canadians who enjoy a nice feed of oysters may have noticed that big oysters were in short supply at the local markets this year.

I chatted with Vanessa Vander Valk of CBC Radio yesterday about the likely reasons why.

February 14th is only a few weeks away.

This Valentine's Day, find someone who looks at you the way Roxy looks at Luna when they are each playing with the exact same kind of ball but Roxy really wants the one Luna has just because Luna has it.

They switched soon after I took this photo 😂😂

After being away for most of Nov, it's been super nice being present at home for 3 wks

But back to reality tomorrow. Before that, I'm soaking in every last minute of snuggle time with my girls, least not this adorable view of Roxy snoozing on her sister's butt.

My God I'm a lucky man.

What an embarrassing turnout in Minnesota for these World Junior games. Honestly, I've seen bigger crowds at high school tournaments back home in Cape Breton. The IIHF seriously needs to reconsider hosting tournaments in the USA after this one. These crowds are absolutely pathetic.
