Ok, I am impressed. Flying a United Embraer 175 tonight with Starlink from SFO to PDX. You can get it via wifi as soon as you board the plane, no need to wait until takeoff or 10,000 feet. And it's fast!

I genuinely enjoy Bluesky, its content, and the people on it with whom I interact, but the engagement here is nothing like other social media platforms, namely LinkedIn and Facebook.

It was gratifying to be awarded the @amia.org AMIA Academic Forum Health Informatics Educator of The Year Award at the Annual Symposium, but equally gratifying to be called out twice in Jim Cimino’s Year in Review session at the meeting.

This year marks my 40th consecutive #AMIA2025 fall meeting, dating back to SCAMC, and including the virtual meeting during the pandemic in 2020. Extra special this year is my daughter Alyssa attending, along with my grandson, and we will all be decked out in AMIA t-shirts!

There are many worse things the Trump Administration has done but this one hits close to home for me. One of the things that the US government does very well is create high-quality data sets and tools to use them. It is sad to lose these tremendous resources.

What a great night! I feel better this morning than I have in a long time. Even though I do not agree with all of his policy positions, I am thrilled for Zohran Mandani. Great news in Virginia, New Jersey, and California! I hope this is the beginning of the end of Trump 2, but much work still to do.

I am a Cubs fan through and through, but enjoyed this World Series immensely. I was rooting for the Canadian team just to be able revel at a non-US team winning in the era of Donald Trump, but I can't complain about the victorious team from a blue state with many immigrants on its roster.

Science is rarely perfect. But there is better inquiry, and worse.

And political theater is a different thing from science, altogether.

Glad to see @henryfordhealth.bsky.social clearing the air:

Even the lousiest seats in the stadium at the Super Bowl go for thousands of dollars a pop. I'm sure that DHS will find all sorts of undocumented immigrants in the stands watching the game. Such a wise use of taxpayer dollars.
