There are many worse things the Trump Administration has done but this one hits close to home for me. One of the things that the US government does very well is create high-quality data sets and tools to use them. It is sad to lose these tremendous resources.

What a great night! I feel better this morning than I have in a long time. Even though I do not agree with all of his policy positions, I am thrilled for Zohran Mandani. Great news in Virginia, New Jersey, and California! I hope this is the beginning of the end of Trump 2, but much work still to do.

I am a Cubs fan through and through, but enjoyed this World Series immensely. I was rooting for the Canadian team just to be able revel at a non-US team winning in the era of Donald Trump, but I can't complain about the victorious team from a blue state with many immigrants on its roster.

Science is rarely perfect. But there is better inquiry, and worse.

And political theater is a different thing from science, altogether.

Glad to see @henryfordhealth.bsky.social clearing the air:

Not to make light of this tragedy, but maybe we should redeploy the National Guard soldiers in Portland to Mississippi?

Kudos to MIT! And I hope all the other universities offered this will likewise reject it.
I especially like this quote: "Fundamentally, the premise of the document is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone."

I have been trying to get this published as an op-ed, but I am going to post it here since I think it is timely in light of the "consent" extortion events.

Even the lousiest seats in the stadium at the Super Bowl go for thousands of dollars a pop. I'm sure that DHS will find all sorts of undocumented immigrants in the stands watching the game. Such a wise use of taxpayer dollars.
