Reading Cassandra Clare’s infernal devices trilogy. These are long books, full of craft. The sweet stuff is a little more bittersweet than I prefer but not so much that it’s ruined for me. I’m taken with Magnus Bane. His character is resonating true for me in a way I can’t quite define #booksky

Currently reading CN Crawford’s Dark King trilogy. I like it. The FMC is old fae, but living in modern times so it’s a break from the teen heroine/medieval trope (which I don’t dislike, but still, variety is good). She’s also a little more emotionally sensitive which I find relatable. #booksky

#Gild was so shockingly bad that I’m upset. Who liked this? What is wrong with you all? I’m convinced this is some kind of influencer for pay/astroturfing shit going on. Violent, graphic, abusive, depressing, obvious and not even spicy. Boooooo. #Booksky

I’m shifting gears to my first literary love (after poetry) and letting myself dive into an old hard detective yarn. Take me away to poisonville Dashiell Hammett. #BookSky

Like Mother, like mother is an ambitious book and it has kept me so far. I’m about 3/4 way through. I’ve realized it annoys me when every character in a book seems to have a straightforward success in life (except the antagonists). Common in fiction, not so common in real life.

#Quicksilver is a love letter to romance/fantasy readers. The MMC is named Kingfisher. There’s a chapter called icebreaker. I’m gagged #booksky

In early 2006, Mark Klein walked into EFF’s office asking “Do you folks care about privacy?” We do. The documents he provided helped inform our class-action suit, known as Hepting v. AT&T, which made national news.

Heartless Hunter was a standout for me. I felt feelings. It was still in the realm of east reads but it struck me. #booksky

I enjoyed can’t spell treason without tea. It’s always a relief when a sapphic couple is substantial and The Worst Trope isn’t deployed. Cozy, but some suspense. #booksky

Oops, I’m a few books behind. Immortal dark kept me guessing. Great read.

I’m on to immortal dark by Tigest Girma. I know very little about it except it’s a vampire novel by and for Black folks. I haven’t read vampire centered stuff in a while and I’m looking forward to diving back in. Early on it seems like this book has a sense of fun. #booksky

I’m locked in with this series, just finished the second book. I find the pacing really nice, which I know seems like a BS compliment but it really really matters to me in terms of my enjoyment of a novel #booksky
