I neglected to mention that we got a cat about 5 months ago

As much as my wife and I have been planning for this moment for years, she still surprises us constantly

The biggest surprise is how much of my mental well-being is held together by this tiny creature who can't understand me

Preview of my latest crafting project - I made more progress on my crocheted spiderweb dress for Halloween, and finally got to actually wear it for the night!

Art of Comics is one of my favorite kinds of podcasts - expert commentary, presented in a way that's so accessible that I learn something each time

I'm working my way thru the backlog, reading the books before I listen, and I love the chance to get a second or third angle on some really great books
Pssst, it would mean the _world_ if you took a moment to spread the word about The Art of Comics Podcast.
It's our little love project and we put so much time and energy into it <3 Thank you for considering and perhaps re-sharing.

My younger coworkers hate being told that the answer to someone ignoring their email is a phone call

Also I will never take my own advice

Socks! I finished my first pair and am now working the next pattern from The Sock Knitting Bible, toe up on circular needles. I decided to jump ahead and do two-at-a-time, hopefully it helps me stay consistent across the pair.

This one will be for me.

I forgot to post about this back when I read it, but here's the blurb I gave my comic book club:

Features a bi, sexy redhead with a giant sword, from comic books!

There's some spicy scenes and Gail's writing really propels you forward, this feels like an old swords-and-sorcery novel in a good way.

constantly feeling like i'm on walking on a razor's edge of painting an accurate picture of how scary things are right now for us so that they "get it" vs. becoming known as their "downer tranny friend who is always talking about heavy shit" and them just tuning me out because they're uncomfortable
it kinda sucks that I have to trauma dump to cis people for them to understand even a sliver of the pain we go through
February 7, 2025 at 6:53 PM
I need to figure out coping skills for interacting with the parallel world my cis coworkers live in - every time I have to explain news that they never heard, about how trans people are under constant attack, I'm taking psychic damage.

At least my coworkers don't tell me I'm imagining things, tho.

More sock knitting progress - I'm about halfway done with the heel and I like how thick and soft it feels.

Also spending my downtime leaving voicemails for my senators - use 5calls.org and call yours too, please.

I'm exhausted but I spent the better part of the last two weeks learning to knit socks. So even if everything else sucks, maybe I can keep a few feet warm.

"Check on your trans frie-" No. Give them money. Hire them. Buy them a video game.

I have a new goal for 2025 - I will keep a spreadsheet of every book I read for the year and write a Christmas letter email to all of the authors thanking them for giving me something to read and saying something nice about their work.

BlueSky is trying to monetize so let's show them some numbers:

Reskeet this if you refuse to pay for BlueSky+ until trust & safety decides to prioritize marginalized users.

That's $96 / year of lost revenue for each reskeet...

Just finished reading Stone Butch Blues.

I don't think I've ever cried this much from reading a book.

- this is a 5-star review

I picked up my new comics and also found some discount scratch & ding graphic novels - I am SO excited for this issue of The Power Fantasy and the store clerk checking me out said this issue of @fellhound.bsky.social's S.I.R. is really great, we might have talked the other clerk into trying it!
