We already know conclusively that abusing adult women doesn’t violate our norms. We are well on our way to demonstrating just as conclusively that sexually abusing girls doesn’t violate our norms, either.
Social norms are unwritten rules backed by social sanctions. If child sexual abuse isn’t met with strong, collective consequences, we don’t have a social norm against it.

Not for nothing, this is one reason why we say "pregnant patient" instead of "woman." It's not just for non-binary inclusion.
In addition to the fact that it's very much the power imbalance and legal responsibility to protect them that makes them children, it's also disturbing that so many people are willingly like "listen, 15 year olds are hot, and that's a fact." They are children. They look like children.

🚨Dept. of Education proposes to exclude public health degrees from the “professional degree” category.

That means new public health experts could lose access to key higher ed resources, like loan limits & reimbursement.

A bold strategy to let infectious diseases win! 🦠

Punished for... having a period?

Yes, you read that right – behind bars, menstruation is treated like misconduct. Here's how prisons punish people for a bodily function they have no control over 🧵

Something is deeply wrong with your moderation team when good people are being banned without justification.

This is a very bad direction to go in.

If the price of providing single-payer universal healthcare in the USA is calling it "TrumpCare" we will pay it 😉
Dear DJT, You’re brilliant. No one has ever thought to bypass corrupt private insurance & pay people directly for health costs. Let’s call it universal single payer insurance, better yet TrumpCare! No country in world has tried something so bold. Brilliant, just brilliant! I might even say, perfect!
Translation: he has no idea how insurance works

Make Lung Disease Great Again

This should be the Trump Administration's new slogan.

The Mine Safety & Health Administration has stopped enforcing the silica exposure standard and is dismantling NIOSH, which does lung disease research and certifies respirators.

I've said this about writing and art -- the goal was not to replace writers and artists with AI, the result was either:

a) *threaten* to replace them with AI, and use that as leverage to be able to pay them less

b) replace them unsuccessfully and pay them less to fix the shit the AI barfed out
This is sometimes read as "look 'AI' isn't working". But the opposite is true.

_This_ is what "AI" is _for_. Push down labor power, push down wages, make employment more insecure.

If you can at all afford to, head to WalMart ASAP for some shelf-stabile staples for your local food bank.

If there's no DB nearby, please start one with your union/church/club/PTA/neighborhood buddies!

GOP-led states are blocking college students from registering to vote with campus addresses.

In the context of broader attacks on vote-by-mail and early voting, these efforts will systematically disenfranchise young people across the US.

It’s always funny to me that a set of political bros (not Jamelle here, just a type of dude) thinks politics is some rational decision making process. Politics is a soap opera and many people engage it as such. Something silly will end up being the downfall of this, and almost any, administration.
