@suspensekills.bsky.social If you guys ever do an 'odds and ends' episode to close out old themes, I just found a movie missed by Poking the Berenger:

A really cool neo-noir vibe, with zero support from the script or the lead. 2 Judds/3 Dougs.

@johnroderick.bsky.social I was feeling pretty bummed about the Sounders being eliminated this afternoon, but now I’m awash in the spirit of Aloha. Thanks for the show!

@colonelmortimer.bsky.social @travisvogt.bsky.social @whateverokay.bsky.social When LB added native list stats I turned off my hobby website… but I kept the SIKU index going. The domain's about to expire.

On the off chance you want to save it for reference, do so now: letterblocksd.com/siku.html

@suspensekills.bsky.social And there was one other episode with non-English movies. You would have gotten away with it, too. If it weren't for those meddling kids and that damn dog.

@suspensekills.bsky.social In the Dutch version, the wife accuses him of adultery. He's stoneface, not a No/What/Mmhm to respond. She steps away from the table.

He finally stands as if to respond… and then the phone rings and he answers that instead. Never addresses the accusation, just heads out.

@suspensekills.bsky.social Do you have thoughts on which episode to recommend to a friend? I like starting any journey at #1, but he’s not a big podcast consumer so I want to make this one shot count. Any faves?

@alexnavarro.bsky.social I was really hoping the last music movie would be Kneecap (would love to hear your take on that), but I can’t be angry at The Oneders taking the top spot.

Mission:Impossible – Fallout is the best movie of the entire genre, for my money. Such a bummer the franchise continued after that.

@colonelmortimer.bsky.social Knowing your interest in Blaxploitation and Captain Alex, you should put your eyes on New Jack Fury letterboxd.com/film/new-jac...

(Just saw a midnight showing at SIFF, I think they have a regular showing and online streaming available still)
New Jack Fury (2025)

@vivaphysicalmedia.bsky.social I don’t want to steal valor: I haven’t watched the RvRs – I just didn’t realize I was eligible to vote! (I did watch all of my rapid recs!)

Trilogies within a franchise are fair game; it’s just harder to claim a consensus ranking of 25 Bonds. (I’m BatsBegins all day😬)

@suspensekills.bsky.social Threw on ep1 as background while doing some computer work; then got distracted when I recognized the plot from the (excellent) noir The Narrow Margin. Didn’t ever see Hackman’s.

Possible throwback ep for the originals of remakes you’ve covered? The Big Clock? A 3rd one?

I'm discovering that peer pressure on Letterboxd is a very real thing, lol. Ppl will give movies like 4.5 stars & outrageous raves like 90% of other ppl in their circle but then when you ask them about it one-on-one, they're like, "yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of that film." It's okay to say that!

@whateverokay.bsky.social I wouldn’t be surprised at you liking or not liking the Cranks, but I am surprised you’re split on them!

I liked the Cranks… I didn’t watch Running Scared but I think it’s the rare movie where Matt and I would be totally aligned.

But I’m 100% on your side for Man on Fire!

@suspensekills.bsky.social Think I found some SIKU host themed chalk graffiti? @whateverokay.bsky.social’s favorite bad movie accompaniment, @colonelmortimer.bsky.social ‘s favorite show… and what I can only assume is a visual representation of @travisvogt.bsky.social ‘s Giovanni Ribisi impression?

@suspensekills.bsky.social Was just grabbing some movies from @scarecrowvideo.bsky.social and the Judd/Doug painting is gone (but it looks like a ton of stuff is being re-org'd?) Any knowledge if that's coming back? or is it finding a new home?

@adamlisagor.com Leaving a mid-week sporting event, friends all are headed in different directions. I stop in a bar to avoid the public transit rush. I get my drink, and what starts to play?

Tighten up.

None of the other patrons even recognize the fishstick I’m throwing down. By design.

@tvaziri.com Slowly working my way through all movies set in Seattle and just watched Agent Cody Banks.

Is it common for an actor's performance to be part of the background plate for a greenscreen? Does that look like what's happening here? It was very strange.

@eddiemuller.bsky.social During Noir City it struck me how many insert shots there were of notes in beautiful, cursive script.

Do preservation projects need to add block print subtitles so the next generation can read them?

(Just kidding – mostly…)

Noir City Seattle in the books.

That was too many movies… but still worth it. Narrow Margin and 99 River St were new-to-me bangers!

@suspensekills.bsky.social Walking home from Noir City I hit play on the new ep before the AirPods locked in… as your theme echoed through the shadowy streets the guy walking alone 20’ in front of me was visibly startled and worried.

Something to consider if you’re looking for a viral ad campaign.
