Delighted to have our systematic review of #IMT in ventilated patients published in @auscriticalcare.bsky.social @berniebissett.bsky.social @rcsi.bsky.social
New RCSI research reviews evidence for respiratory muscle training in mechanically ventilated intensive care patients.

Findings show the training improves respiratory muscle strength and may reduce ventilation and weaning time.

Excited to share this collab with my colleagues in Ireland: updated SR&MA of Respiratory Muscle Training for ICU patients. Only included IMT with measurable resistance. Want your patient off the vent faster? IMT is your friend.
Great work Eimear McCormack!!

Amazing few days in Cuenca Spain with my Physio colleagues talking about inspiratory muscle training. Hey where are my paediatric physios … if you’re using IMT, please publish your case studies! We need guidance around the world! Let’s learn from each other.

More evidence that individualised, nuanced assessment is crucial for ICU survivors. No shortcuts. No recipes. We need a whole MDT to meet these patients’ needs.
