University Professor of #Geography 🌍 #Geoinformatics. Head of 3DGeo Research Group (https://bsky.app/profile/3dgeohd.bsky.social) at Heidelberg University. Solutions for our digital and dynamic world. 3D geography matters.
It is also interesting that many of the other top authors were or still are in Heidelberg. A fruitful OSM research ecosystem and hub.

The project is performed at @3dgeohd.bsky.social together with the great colleagues Eetu Puttonen @epfgi.bsky.social and Mariana Campos from the @fgi-nls.bsky.social. Her research is kindly supported by the Botanical Garden Heidelberg.

#Fieldwork summer 2025 was a very special one. In the #Austrian Alps the good weather periods were very limited and only spontaneous campaigns were possible. Gladly, we were able to capture highly valuable 3D LiDAR data for our new research projects in Austria such as at the #Schesaplana mountain.

Damülser Mittagsspitze: One of the #icons of Vorarlberg, Austria.

It is very popular and easy to reach, but not so easy to summit for inexperienced hikers. It is an interesting 'dynamic' peak that we will investigate in more detail. @3dgeohd.bsky.social

This wineyard is the only one along the Moselle, dominated by Devoniam slate, in triassic sandstone (Buntsandstein). There was a major rockfall in 2023. @bernhardhofle.bsky.social , you are still observing in nearly Real-Time?!

Yes, and the data (incl. you guys 😀) will be made openly available within the next months. See our research project AIMon5.0 (www.uni-heidelberg.de/aimon) for more infos. There you can also find some nice videos about our research together with TUM, HS Bochum and DMT (www.swr.de/swraktuell/r...).

🕷️ 🌿 Genetic biodiversity can be assessed directly via remote "sampling" and near real-time analysis of airborne environmental DNA (#eDNA). ❓ Is this a game changer for #biodiversity monitoring and #bioprospection? How can we bring the lab results back to the #spatial domain? (1/4)
