Curious about the world. Wanting to make today just a little better than the day before.
Ford ending sedans in 2020 and now killing the EV F-150 Lightning is the epitome of short-sighted. Their aren't building for the future and instead relying on short-term peculiarities in the US regulatory environment to cash-in. China is going to end up eating their lunch when tides change.

This is wild. BBC reports that Huntington's disease has been successfully treated for the first time using gene therapy. Indications show a 75% reduction in disease progression. This is extremely promising for those affected by this devastating disease and fatal disease.

Next AI breakthrough will be in ability to accurately filter out AI content from learning models.

Anyone else sick of the enshitification of content on the web?

I'd estimate that more than 80% of all new content is now AI generated. All of it looks and reads the same way but also place high in SEO results. The content is generally low value and low effort crap.

It's incredible to what lengths the otherwise inept Democrat party has gone into planning the Epstein hoax that in 2003 they secretly submitted a forged letter from Trump to be included in Epstein's birthday book and managed to keep it from any of the parties involved for 22 yrs.

Absolutely genius.

Some of the recent attacks I can recall that are political or politically adjacent:

1) Charlie Kirk
2) Minnesota state legislators
3) UHC CEO
4) Trump
5) Governor Shapiro arson attack
6) Home invasion and attack of Paul Pelosi

Can anyone really deny that something has fundamentally shifted?

Trump: I'm going to impose a tariff on your goods so you should invest $Billions into the US

Hyundai: Okay

Trump: Gotchu, chump!

Hyundai: *Shocked Pikachu*

Georgia: We still good for badminton on Friday?
September 9, 2025 at 1:02 PM
In case you're not exposed to Korean news, the raid on the Hyundai plant is having the effect of effectively chilling any positive sentiment that Koreans have of the United States and Trump. This is the equivalent to how Canadians rallied in unity against Trump once talk of annexation came up.

The radical counterculture hippy -> anti-government -> conspiracy theorist, prepper, anti-vax radical conservative boomer pipeline is not the timeline we deserved.

Here's me thinking that shareholder value for TSLA would be maximized by removing Musk while TSLA board making it rain with billion dollar bills.

ICE and Atlanta ATF along with other agencies raid new massive Hyundai battery factory in Georgia for "community safety". Don't want another Samsung Note 7 fiasco apparently.

Is Georgia "open for business"™ or not?

I have a childhood memory of eating roasted peanuts where every once in a while you'd get an extra dense, extra flavorful nut, that had a crispy texture as compared to the more mealy texture of the other peanuts.

Does anyone know what causes this and is it possible to get that every time?

Japan had a hilarious tv show where 3 professional athletes competed against 100 small kids and the pro athletes still crushed the kids.

That's what I imagine with anything RFK Jr. says about healthcare. Except in this case it's like 100 pro MDs against 1 RFK whose medication education was rehab.

I may have finally worked out the philosophical "problem of evil" but raises other concerns.

Humans were the "chosen people" to act as the universe's lab rat. People are intentionally and willfully subject to all manner of suffering at God's discretion in order to eradicate suffering elsewhere.

You know how for professional sports drafts pundits, analysts, and the press will issue report cards on how various teams did in the draft?

Do we have the same thing for Presidential cabinet assignments? If not we should because administrations should be judged on the quality of their staff.

These days Japan is considered an incredible travel value with affordable hotels, cheap and delicious food, and incredible sights.

However, only 35 years ago Japan was considered one of the most expensive countries to visit and Tokyo the most expensive city in the world.

"Linux is free if you don't value your time." is only a trueism because Linux gets you most of the way there to being able to do crazy stuff that you wouldn't even bother to attempt on another OS.

"Mac and Windows is only easy if you don't value choice and freedom."
"Linux is free if you don't value your time."

I dealt with a USB issue for two years that persisted through Windows reinstalls. My USB devices would conk out, get disconnected, come back ten seconds later. 1-2 times a day. Nothing was ever in the system logs and sifting through useless bot-written
