Hello I've got a month left on my contract at PCGamesN so I'm actively looking for work.

Freelance or full-time, journalism or consultancy, I've got a decade of experience in the industry, five as an editor, and I've consulted for major shareholders of FTSE 500 businesses.

I've got good news and bad news. The bad? I've just had a mock review and a big corporate gig fall through for this month. The good? I'm available to write your words!

Opinions, reports, copywriting, mock reviews - you name it, I've got experience (albeit sometimes NDAed).

Last weekend I did my back in transporting all my Warhammer from one house to another.

I still can't move properly.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

Pokémon Silver that I picked up from Birkenhead market for seven quid. Saved up a few weeks' pocket money for that, much to my mum's dismay.

Saw it for 40 in the window of CEX the other day. Nuts.
My Pokémon journey began with Red back in April 1999 - despite never owning a Game Boy. I bought Pokémon Stadium specifically for the Transfer Pak so I could play Red on my TV.

What was your first Pokémon game?

this was an immeasurable effort from everyone involved. the list is packed with calls to action and donation funds. folks wrote about anything from games to movies and books. we didn’t include anything published or developed by microsoft, and avoided games with gen ai like the plague

Everyone's posts are making me reminisce about 2025.

Had a kid, quit my job, bought a house - turmoil. Trying to find the balance between work and life is tough. I'm committed to family time but rates are stagnant.

I'll do better next year. I'll write stuff I'm happy with. And I'll write for me.

I've got a mind boggling five days off now, so it seems as good a time as any to share some work I'm proud of this year.

We also welcomed a new baby, moved house, and I went full-time freelance, so if 2026 could be a bit more chill, that would be boss ta

So very tired, but I couldn't let 2025 end without taking stock of Microsoft's embarrassing treatment of gaming, Windows, and indeed human beings while it chases the AI money train
Microsoft's year of shame
Can't make a few trillion dollars without ditching game developers, going googoo gaga for AI and supplying tech to the military, I suppose!

We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Concept Artists Say Generative AI References Only Make Their Jobs Harder
“The ‘early ideation stages’, when worlds are being fleshed out by writers and artists, are literally crucial to the development of a game’s vision,” said one artist.
