Ive been working with the CDC on a project and let me tell you, they have been great! No complaints, very helpful, made me more optimistic about the career folks there.

Just my experience, but it has made me very wary of the collapsing trust we have in our institutions.

I’m reading Private Rites while living in Nashville and man, sometimes dystopian fiction hits way to close to home.
From NWS Nashville— “Nashville's month-to-date rainfall is now up to 8.06" through yesterday, making this the 10th-wettest May on record and the wettest May since the infamous 2010.”

Only the best people working in this meritocratic regime.
CNN: I want to share the concern of dock workers. The Int'l Longshore and Warehouse Union released a statement saying trade policies shouldn't be dictated by "a president's whims"

CHAVEZ-DeREMER: That quote sounded exactly in line with the president

CNN: They're criticizing him

It’s worth reminding ourselves that becoming a multi-planet species is way more cool in theory than in practice.

We should send him back to this truly golden period of history.

Where are Bill and Ted when you need them?
Trump to Fox: "You know, in the old days -- about 1870 to 1913 -- the tariffs were the only form of money." 🥴

Got asked “What’s free trade?” by a Trump voter today.

Man, all these podcasts host and conspiracy theorists in federal government leadership positions are going to be super disappointed when the "deep state" is really just a mediocre person named Amanda who brings egg rolls to the Cinco de Mayo potluck.

The origin story of these tariffs is insane: the President’s SIL found a guy on Amazon (based on a book title, he didn’t read the book) who made up an expert to support his discredited theories on trade.

This. This is what the party of traditional, family, values is spending their time on.
Speaker Mike Johnson has reached an agreement with Republican holdouts that will effectively kill a bipartisan effort to change House rules so that lawmakers could temporarily vote remotely immediately after the birth of a child.

Besides Lutnick, Trump, Navarro, and other loyalist I haven't encountered anyone who is pro these tariffs. r/conservative is overall anti anything nonreciprocal, most Rs I know hate them, who is this for? (other than nihistic, sociopathic, oligarchs)

Assuming we have a presidential election in 2028, it's fair to assume the Trump backlash will usher in the most socialist leaning ticket that the US has ever seen.

You don't own goal this bad without severe consequences.

It's a little ironic that the plot of the "Tires" pilot is exactly the same as the latest Pete Hegseth boondoogle.

Shane Gillis saw it coming.

The point of this story shouldn't be "OMG they were using Signal! That isn't official!" pearl clutching. Most Americans do not care about Signal nor "official" channels.

Rather, it should be: these people are so dumb - if someone working for you screwed up this bad you'd fire them on the spot.

The growing support for authoritarian rule is a clear indication that we have a global leadership crisis.

Bragging about working this hard for what amounts to meaningless political theatre is embarrassing.
This is not a flex. It’s inefficiency and it’s embarrassing when you remember that they get more things wrong than they get right.

Consumer sentiment is dropping quickly, but a factor may be that algos reinforce individual biases. It wouldn't surprise me if we were in a new normal of sentiment volatility.
