Every woman who fled complementarian evangelical spaces has sat in a room like that. With men like that publicly berating her, scrutinizing what she’s wearing, and demanding thanks for their mistreatment, calling it protection while siding with abusers and thugs. It wasn’t a shock. It was a memory.+
