Late in the day but today was the 124 anniversary of the formation of the Commonwealth Of Australia. The day we became an independent country, “Australia Day”. But as usual it barely rates a mention in the media or general national consciousness. 🇦🇺

Why Test Cricket is the supreme sport.
1. Teams represent their countries, they are not owned by corps or oligarchs.
2. Teams are generally player lead, coach/ managers only play support roles.
3. Test cricket has rejected the 20 sec attention span, if it takes 5 days it takes 5 days.

I’m only stating the obvious but Bumrah is the best fast bowler to visit our shores since the great Windies bowlers. His control and ability to work batsmen out is the bastion can recall and a joy to watch.

The entire fleet of LIV players have turned up to “kiss the ring” in Saudi this week. Forgettable golf course, playing in front of a crowd of scorers and camera crew in a country with hot wars on 3 borders. Welcome to the future folks. Even the LIV bots on twitter can’t get up for this one. #progolf

Just reflecting on the weekends racing and firstly I for one was too cautious with Overpass, he was an even money chance and too good. Get that Sandown meeting back to Sandown ASAP, and long distance racing around a figure 8 or similar track has possibilities.

I do hope today’s Australian Open was the last in this format. We had 950 in the world prevail over 450 in the world while the Group with 3 Women’s major winners in it relegated to a side show finishing 2 hours earlier. I understand how the event ended up like this but it simply doesn’t work.
