Confirmed match-fixing in the NBA, MLB, and UFC. Multiple studies showing sports betting increases debt, bankruptcy, and even domestic violence.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Never ceases to amaze me that when government creates jobs by directly creating jobs (public sector employment) that’s considered “waste” or “inefficient”…
Yet when government sends money to the private sector it’s “efficient” investment because it “creates jobs”*
*only if shareholders are happy 🤷

I had hoped this unintentional gag was the last gasp of Trumpism
The absurdity of it still makes me think we are in a simulation

Trump, Musk, RFK, et al will kill millions of people, possibly tens of millions, before all is said and done
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc
The Shutdown of U.S.A.I.D. Has Already Killed Hundreds of Thousands
The short documentary “Rovina’s Choice” tells the story of what goes when aid goes.

Could be wrong, but Trump supporters would probably respond something like, "Of course he only cares about himself. This is America. Selfishness is good. I want a president who is selfish." The diehard supporters justify his behaviour no matter what it is.

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.
I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.
But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

I've always voted NDP, federally & provincially (NS, ON, or BC). The federal Liberal Party's turn to the right under Carney underscores the need for a strong, federal, NDP. The BC NDP's turn to the right under Eby is certainly making me question my choices: the BC Greens are looking good right now

We desperately need politicians who are willing to change the narratives:
- Taxes, if used well, are good and help everyone
- Diversity, equity, inclusion are important values intrinsically, and they also help with innovation and the all important economy
- Immigration brings many, many positives

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Still feeling really sad about the #BlueJays loss. They had many chances, but that’s part of the beauty of baseball: on any given night anything can happen. I had so wanted a team built on friendship and supporting each other to win. May Guerrero lead the team to many more post seasons! So fun!
Most hits in a single postseason:
2025 Ernie Clement: 30
2020 Randy Arozarena: 29
2025 Vladimir Guerrero Jr.: 28

Maybe it hurts extra because we might not be back for a long time. The feeling around the World Series everywhere I went was unity. Canadians from coast to coast to coast. People who don't normally watch baseball. Distant family and lapsed friends who made contact again after years.

No matter what happens, this has been an incredible season and postseason for the #BlueJays. Would it be too much to ask for the Jays to have a winning record in November, too? #WorldSeries
